Question:
Having sadly lost contact with my reiki master (level 1) I feel the need to ask you guys some questions that probably I should have asked her... but here goes - for physical pain such as a pulled muscle - how effective would reiki treatment be? This is for my partner who I regularly treat regardless of any physical problems and seems to effect positive benefits for mental strain / stress, but I have never seriously treated anyone for a purely physical problem... I understand that reiki works best for problems that can be categorised as needing balancing - but Im not sure how this physical problem can be said to be under the 'balancing' umbrella -perhaps it would be better to purely let nature take it's course rather than interfering energetically.

Reiki works on all of the mental, physical, emotionaland spiritual levels.
One of the first people I treated was for a broken toe. It's not just a case of using reiki for things that required 'balancing', but can be used for anything full-stop. On a physical level, reiki provides the body with energy frequencies that it requires to assist the body with the healing process. It has been scientifically shown that different tissues in the body healmore effectivelyusing different electrical frequencies and reiki will provide the energy frequencies that are required.
Should you go on to do Reiki II, you will be shown some symbols to use. One of these is a symbol which assists with treating emotional issues, andanother (the power symbol) assists with treating physical issues.
Some practitioners also believe that focusing the energy using different colours can also assist the different conditions. These can be learnt colours for particular conditions, or colours that come intuitively at the time of treatment.
You sound like you have already found Reiki useful for physical conditions, so why stop now. Carry on as you were, you're doing just great.

Hi Suebee,
OK, let's say the problem is a bad knee. Reiki goes to where it is most needed, right? So, let's say the bad kneee is because of a wonky hip which is due to a bad back caused by compensation for a stiff shoulder which is because the person is always stressed out. The Reiki would then address the stress, right? And so the shoulders would eventually get the healing, followed by the back etc. By the time it gets to the knee, as long as there is no permanent damage, the difference should be felt. This may take many sessions, as it is a process rather than a treatrment, as you well know.
I give the above example because I have literally seen it unfold with one volunteer who kindly offered herself for treatment by many of my students. The last student to work on her was a fitness instructor doing his Reiki 2. Very interesting.
Hi SueBee,
I would expect reiki to be very beneficial for this problem, reiki heals on all levels, emotional, physical and spiritually.
Reiki is good for physical pain as it can be pain relieving so lessening discomfort, while at the same time it may assist the body in recovering. As Suzanne's example explains to well, it will assist at the root or cause problem and will work for the greater good.
From personal experience, I find reiki wonderful for pain relief of any sort, I ride young horses and am often injuring myself and the reiki certainly helps.
balancing is one part of what reiki does, if balancing is needed I believe that reiki will address that, reiki is an intelligent energy form, it will prioritise and heal as and where needed.
Reiki works for the greater good. Also bear in midn that nature taking it;'s course is often not ideal, for example if i break a bone I will do the unnatural thing of having relevant treatment because if I don't it will only worsen..reiki will only help!
