CICM, training and doubts
Question:

Hi,
Just a quickie...Has anyone studied at the college of integrated chinese medicine in Reading? I have been recommended to this college but wondered whether anyone had any views? Also did you have any doubts as to whether you would absorb all of the info and was you nervous about failing? How did you do? I want to do it but doubt myself for being able to hold onto the info long enough to practice correctly.....Help!
Cheers
Claire

Hi
I trained at CICM!
Would recommend it hands down.
Of course, not everyone makes it through the course, but if you want to become an acupuncturist, it's a superb college without a doubt.
Don't worry about retaining the knowledge. They are experts at teaching, and you learn in such a way that it just makes sense!
I've studied right through to post-graduate level at uni, and CICM was the first place where I was blown away by the teaching. It's really the first time I've been taught how to learn!

It is also the only college that teaches you to combine TCM and 5 element acupuncture in actual clinical use (as opposed to just in theory). I love it, and wouldn't be without!

Best of luck with whatever choice you make!

Hi there
I'm a student at a different college and I fully reccomend studying acupuncture. My college (LCTA) does also do some 5 element, but not to the same level though I'm very impressed with their openness to different traditions and we are always observing different practioners. Many of our supervisors are 5 element or japanese acupuncture based.
It can't be said that it isn't difficult at times, but it's well worth the challenge and with all the practice you get there will be no chance of not withholding the information especially as it's so fascinating! Forget about school when you were forced to learn stuff, it's completely different when you actually want to learn it :-)
I've heard great things about the reading college so best of luck with whatever you decide to do!
