CIBTAC Beauty Therapy
Question:

Hi everyone,:)
I'm new to the forum.
I study CIBTAC Beauty Therapy two evenings a week and wondered whether anyone out there also studies CIBTAC Beauty Therapy? I've seen varying copies of the syllabus and wondered what is on your syllabus?! does it cover nail extensions, eyelash extensions and paraffin wax? this may seem like a strange question, but my school have given me two different copies of the syllabus- one with the above on and one without - am a little confused and it is difficult to get a straight answer out of the school![&:]
many thanks. Kate. x

Hi,
I am also new to the forum. I just started studying CIBTAC - Beauty Therapy. The school hasn't given us the syllabus either but on the site there is the syllabus which I guess is the latest. During our first lessons we covered Hygiene, Skin and skin appendages and diseases.
We also started the practicals and started off with cleansing.
I have looked several times for past papers on the Internet for CIBTAC but only found some on the Healthy Pages forums. Hope the questions of the other collegues are good too.
I would be grateful to share what we are doing at my school with you. If I have some questions I will post them too.

Hi Alfa147,
Great to receive your reply. Interesting how you haven't received a copy of the syllabus. I tried to contact CIBTAC but they would not give me a copy of the Syllabus, nor copies of past exam papers.
I recently discovered that ITEC have a Beauty Therapy qualification that is internationally recognised. In hindsight,I wish I had undertaken this course instead, as they seem much more professional than CIBTAC.
I also discovered that you can purchase exam papers from ITEC (Beauty Therapy). I don't think the questions would differ that much, so I am going to purchase ITEC papers to practice with. Obviously this is not ideal, but if CIBTAC will not disclose their past papers it is the only way. My school will not give me access to past papers either. If anyone knows why it is all cloak and dagger with CIBTAC exam papers please let us know!!!
If I find out more concerning the syllabus I will let you know.
All the best with your course and stay in touch.
Many thanks

Hi there,
I didn't buy the papers in the end, but they come in a book format and it contains questions on other therapies as well.
If you contact ITEC they are more than happy to direct you to their distributor (sorry I cannot remember whothat is). The book is produced by ITEC, so they are more than happy to give details on it.
Hope this helps

Hi again Kate,
Wow that was a quick reply. thanks for that. listen what did you do in the end to get some sample questions on the theory exam. When are you doing your theory exam? I'm in a mad panic here, only 1 month into the course and already we have covered, cell, skin, skeletal, muscular and endocrine systems. i'm just basically lost! and wondering what i've let myself in for. trying to cram all the above in to make some sense of it all. Then last week our tutor gave us a "little test" on some of the stuff we've covered and i found that some of the questions on the test we actually hadnt covered, eg. some of the questions on the muscular system i had never heard of before, so i'm wondering is my tutor just crap or was the test she gave us just something she threw at us. am i making sense. i'm just in over my head at the mo i think!!!!!!!!!! anyway i'm shutting up now. back to the original question. thanks for the info on itec papers, will contact them. I'll let u know how i get on.

Hi again,
You are very welcome!
To be honest, knowing what I know now, I would never have done a CIBTAC course as they are not interested in the students. I contacted them a few times and they were just really unhelpful e.g go to your school for information. Also my school wasreallyawful!.
There is a forum on HP for homework and exam questions. Students are really helpful and post lots of questions about various subjects, including Beauty Therapy. Some students have posted questions that came up in their CIBTAC exams. You may find this pretty helpful, as I know I have.
I'm doing an ITEC Holistic Massage course (my exam is in a few days!!). For that course have been using Louise Tucker's an introduction to Anatomy and Physiology, which is ok and gives you a basic grasp of all the systems. I would recommend you buy it as I found it useful for both Beauty and Massage.
Another book I just bought is Anatomy and Physiology 2nd Edition made incredibly easy by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. It is great and contains lots of quizzes and question at the end of each chapter.
Books like that are always an investment - if you go onto do further courses, you will always have to cover A&P.
Good luck and keep me posted on your quest!!

Hi there
I'm also new in here. I'm studying CIDESCO & don't seem to be able to get my hands on a syllabus, any ideas where I ccould obtain one please?
Thanks :D

Hi There,
You canobtain information on CIBTAC courses on the CIBTAC website (enter CIBTAC in google and it should come up). It seems every school has a different syllabus for CIBTAC, so it is really a question of asking your school.
Not sure about CIDESCO, but I think the two are related in some way.
Not a fan of CIBTAC at all. I only did it because there weren't any other options for me and CIBTAC was the only qualification I could do at evening an class. All NVQ courses were during the day.
Good luck in your quest for the CIBTAC syllabus. I never managed to track one down.

Hi Girls!
I have previously studied Beauty Therapy and I am going back to it so Im hopefully starting a new course next year. Personally I never had any problems with CIBTAC. I found their examiners to be extremely professional and they certainly put me at ease during practical exams.
Like you guys I couldn't find copies of the CIBTAC syllabus and I googled and googled until I finally found one....So check out the link. I hope its helpful!
My tutors were able to give us past papers so I think it really depends on the school!
Good Luck!
