A question on reiki... and positive thinking
Question:

Hi There
There is this disease called cerebral attacia which is very unknown... I was told today it is a cross or mixutre of Parkinsons and M S.. as time goes on u loose co-ordination, sights, speech etc.. this started with someone I know relative with a brain tumour...
I am a great believer in Reiki of course and positive thinking.. and that of course everything is made up of energy.. and if the brain is also energy.. I believe that a possibility that reiki could repair the damage cells as well as positive thinking.. that your mind tells your brain to re grow or something like that.. or at least stop getting worse so the person who has this can have a quality of life...
I know also that if this is something that he has called to experience.. perhaps there is no help and he will detoriate.. but saying that.. I am not sure as what if it is a wake up call to make changes in his life...
I would like to know if anyone here who is reiki has helped anyone with brain problems, ms or parkinsons.. I know all outcomes are different... but would like to hear of your experiences..

I reiki anything and everything. I also believe in the power of the mind. I have been trying to and possibly succeeding in shrinking a friends tumour in her throat.
She had refused chemo. The last results were promising, and she is now allowed the op.
If you would like me to join you in reiking or positive thoughts, I would be happy to help.

Hi Flower
I have given a healing attunement to a friend with MS. This, BTW, is similar to an attunement to Reiki 1, but the person is not able to channel Reiki to others - it is just for their own use, and is not permanent. She said it helped a lot.
Positive thinking: Initially, she adapted her house to create a bedroom and shower/loo downstairs. She also got involved in MS support groups. At some point she said to herself something along the lines of "To heck with this" ;):Dand decided to live as "normal", using the stairs again, and opting out of the various groups, where she had found people very negative (perhaps understandably). She also found she needed her wheelchair a lot less.
I can't say how she is now, because we lost touch (as you do) after my move here a couple of years ago.

Well, it might be a wake up call ... in which case he may well make the changes. On the other hand he might not. Either way, I'm sure Reiki can do nothing but good.
For Parkinson's, Louise Hay says "Fear and an intense desire to control everything and everyone". For MS she offers "Mental hardness, hard-heartedness, iron will, inflexibility. Fear."
Do those give you any clues?

I cannot comment much on the Reiki but we are just starting a little "experiment" with affirmations. A husband of one of the members of our healing group has Parkinson's. They are stauch Catholic's in a Catholic community and he is not "online" with anything to "strange." We met his wife in my sister's Tia Chi class. She is veryopen to alternative thinking but has to be very careful what she presents to him and we do feel that on a soul level he would be aware of what is going on at a minimum and are trying to respect his beliefs. We chose to start with a Health Affirmation that he can watch on the computer. He just needs to read it each day and is 15 minutes long. He is just beginning to believe that he is not a victim of the disease and might be able to do more to improve his condition, so we are hoping that this will change his mindset to be more open and positive. I will be glad to post a monthy progress report.

I really don't agree with that at all! Anyone can send and use Reiki!! andwithout attunement too!
Attunements and teachings are to perhaps understand the energy flow better and perhaps control it better? But anyone can channel universal energy! Its the way the human race block their mindsthat make us need to take expensive courses; keep an open mind and its easy.
We are all natural healers, part of the same energy force. No need for symbols or attunements or certificates...(unless you want to charge and have to prove that you 'learnt' and 'studied' reiki thats all.)

Hi Flower,
Cerbral ataxia is brain paralysis/wasting anda symptom or result, sometimes caused by a brain tumour. So I guess this is the case. Giving reiki to an area with a tumour in is highly dangerous in my opinion. I always stay clear of any areas I find. But you can clear the blockages that ensue and that may have also added to the growth and condition and also give reiki to boost the whole energy system. Treat the person holisitically, from top to toe, inside and out.
A person has to want to get better and to heal before healing can take place. So l would look at underlying causes. Stress is one that is paramount in most cancer sufferers. Stop the stress and it helps. This may be anger or supressed anger, frustration, hurting or emotional distress, lots of things cause stress even the wrong foods!

You are perfectly entitled to disagree with the way that I, or anyone, gives or teaches Reiki. Flower asked for experiences of treating – among other conditions – MS, and that is what I shared with her, together with two brief quotes. I'll refrain from comment on your remark about "closed mindsets" and your suggestion that those who choose to learn and study might have something to prove.
You said:
With respect, this sounds to me rather too close to a diagnosis for comfort. As I am neither a doctor nor a neurological consultant, and am unwilling to make guesses about medical conditions I know nothing about, I did a search for "cerebral ataxia" and give here two links:
both of which give comprehensive information from a medical standpoint, and from which it may be seen that there are many causes and variations, and that research is ongoing.
I would agree with you, however, on the possibility of underlying causes. That's why I quoted a few words from Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life in my earlier post.

Bless you, Flower, you're very welcome! [sm=hug.gif]
Your question isa hard one to answer - you could leave a copy of You Can Heal Your Life lying around ;)
The other is easier: Which search engine do you use? I putit as you'dspelled itinto Google and first of all got this:
"Did you mean: ". Clicked on that and got the results! Google always does this if only one or two letters are incorrect.
