Me, sexist?
Question:

Last week I was asked to submit information regarding my therapies with a view to a large local office offering their employees a chance to sample some therapies in a bid to reduce stress within the workplace.
I duly sent them my leaflet which in my opinion gives a succint resume of the benefits of Reiki, Reflexology, IHM and EFT and also what it entails.
This is the reply that I got: "I’m really sorry but the Management Team have not agreed to this suggestion as some services cannot release staff to take up a session and they feel it is too biased to women(!!??)."
Can you believe that?
They have, however, asked if I can do a group session on stress which I am going to discuss with them later today. Never done anything like that before so I will need to get my thinking cap on, although I am hoping they will allow me to a group session with EFT.
I am going to also ask for feedback on my leaflet to see where it suggests a bias towards to women, although I suspect it is in the heads of a predominately male management team, don't you?

I think you're right, it's their preconceptions - who's got the bias here?
Ask 'em what they'd like to see on your leaflet to make it "unbiased" - or at least balanced.
Maybe you could change some wording and Hey Presto.
Is there much talk of emotions? Perhaps the management team don't feel comfortable with that ;)
Interesting problem...But I'm sure the Stress Workshop is a way in for you if you handle it right. Good luck!

Post up the copy for your leaflet...

I have spoken to my contact this afternoon and it isn't the leaflet. No, the team, made up entirely of women i(that surprised me), thougt that mainly women would take up the opportunity and therefore it would not be fair!!
Anyway, I am going to do the stress workshop and they will pay for me to develop it so it might be a blessing in disguise, as it will be another string to my bow.
I have never even given a talk before (well not since I was at college when I did my English Speaking Board exam and everything I had to say came out all in one sentence!!) and here I am agreeing to run a workshop type thingy for an hour and half (max) to up to about 35 people!!
Now, I am going to tap (EFT) like billy-o and ask for help from any source. At least I have plenty of my own experience to draw on and if all else fails there is always an EFT demo.
BTW I still managed to pass my ESB exam because of how I handled the questions, so there is hope!

Have you seen these two threads in the Reiki forum on giving a talk for the first time:

You're welcome, Sarah. Sorry if yesterday's post was a bit curt ... I was in a hurry.
I meant to say and
