Massage on the NHS?
Question:

Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if massage therapists are employed/used by the NHS? I am particularly looking for massage for a shortened muscle - I presume it is sports massage or myofascial release.
If not, would it be only physiotherapists who use massage in the NHS?
Thanks in advance,
Richard
PS - I am asking this because I am a student and cannot afford to pay for private treatment at the moment. I have done in the past, chiropractors, physio's, but now my money has run dry (Can you hear the violins). Just telling you this in case you think i am too tight to pay!

Answers:

Hi Richard
The NHS generally used hospital trained physiotherapists who are generally not trained to massage, I would suggest you find a sports injury or remedial massage therapist who should have it sorted in no time at all :-)

Answers:

Otherwise why not have a look at the therapy swaps on here, there may be someone on here near you who is willing to do that in exchange for something else.
