Question:
Hello all!
I am about to run my first 10k on Sept 11th and feel woefully unprepared. Illness forced me to cut the training a bit so I'm a lacking in confidence and preparation now. I'm a bit overweight and find the first 10 minutes of any run to be hell-I wheeze(have mild asthma) and my muscles scream. After that I ease into it. Am doing this run with a friend and am nervous about looking like a fool and coming so far last that the race organizers will have packed up. This fear is getting to the point where I sometimes feel I want to back out. I want to tap through the fear of it but am having trouble with the set up statements. Can you help please?
Driving update:
I've not been on here for a while-have started a new job in London and don't need to drive..just as I realised I really was over my driving problem! Relocating th the South East was a nightmare-w lost the keys to the van and I ended up ferrying boxes up and down the motorway, driving in peak rush hour. 2 Years ago that would have paralysed me but with EFT I really was able to overcome it.

ok - as is usual when I write down the problem I start to think of setup statements!
Even though I'm not as fit as I'd like to be for this race...
Even though I'm afraid of looking silly in front of X....
Even though I may come last...

Sit back, relax and think of yourself on the staring line. How do you feel? That may give you some good starters for tapping on.
From your post I could suggest...
"Even though I'm lacking in confidence..."
"Even though the first 10 minutes of running is hell...."
"Even though my muscles scream...."
"Even though I fear being last..."
"Even though I want to back out..."
