Question:
I was just reading the post about Kyanite not needing cleansing, and it made me think that I'm not really sure I agree with self-cleansing stones, or stones that don't need cleansing? Citrine is another and also crystals beds of amethyst and citrine.
I cleanse ALL my crystals without exception, but...... I am a bit naughty in that first I pry into their past history through the energies they hold and then I selectively cleanse any that have energy that isn't harmonious with their spirit and healing and light.
Usually most stones need a thorough cleanse and heal after travelling to me, some are bathed in the sea, some decide a waterfall of spring water and others prefer smudging and chants, all depends on the stone and the hardness and the weight. Some larger pieces I couldn't lift safely enough so they get sound healing or if fragile then smudging. But I would never decide a stone doesn't need cleansing just because of its name. They can still carry negative imprints too, and these can catch unaware people out and cause problems.
Once they have been through their initial reading, vetting, cleansing and healing then its true that some stones dont need that treatment till they again undergo and retain the imprint or stress of dark energies or turmoil of emotions.
yes have to say again it comes down so much with what you feel about a crystal/stone....however for those just starting out this can be good general information....as not everyone trusts themselves or can pick up the energies straight away or more importantly dont believe they can pick up the energies straight away, but agree you can always spot a sad stone.....

I will tell you a story then about a wonderful crystal ball I found......
Get comfy then ;)
It was extremely rare and cost a small fortune, and sat in the front window of a shop in the blazing hot sun all day long. When I first asked to see the stone they wouldn't let me hold it, incase I dropped such an expensive stone but held it themselves and turned it round so I could see! It had a stand that had been glued onto its base because it kept rolling off it, (probably seeking shelter from the baking hot window). The pain I got from this stone was terrible and I had to work hard to block the emotions. Anyways back it went into the window with me in distress worrying about it. The shop lady thought I was fretting at the price lolol.
I walked away and didn't look back, I knew the stone would be mine just a question of when. The poor sad stone sat in that window and I swear he cried! Noone looked at him, he grew darker and darker and then one pay day, I gathered up my thoughts and bravely marched straight in and picked up the ball before anyone could stop me! Oh I comforted him and felt him buzz and Zzzing and tremble..... I ripped off the stand and peeled off the glue and then gave him up to be wrapped and felt a momentary ease in the chatter and pain in my heart and happily walked out the shop with my new project.... the pain was easing fast now and my head was clearing and I drove straight to the sea whipped off my socks and shoes and ran and washed my stone in the waves, rolling him over and over in the cool crystal water and rubbing and smoothing the ball, a thorough cleansing and when dried in the sunlight what a stunning change, lights and rainbows and crystal clear changes. The ball is healing now and much much happier and we gently work together but he still has a tendency to tumble and rush when giving me information so happy is he now like a piece of sea frozen in time for all to sea.
Hey Crystal!
Well what crystal was it? :-)
Awe Crystal, what a beautifull story that is , just wonderfull, and good on you for rescuing him.;)
LOLOL That would be telling [8D] Will take a pic next sunny day and let you see......
Aww, sweet story! I've got a friend who will rescue any crystals that are quietly despairing in charity shops. She then puts them in odd places in her garden to recover and be free.
I've always wondered where the 'myth' of certain crystals never needing cleansing arose from. Is it from before 'Love is in the Earth'? After working with kyanite, citrine or ametrine I still feel that they need cleansing, and would always cleanse them.
I think there's also a lot of confusion between cleansing and recharging. Crystals may need cleansing to remove negative energies they've captured, but they will also need recharging to top up their 'batteries' from time to time. It's possible to cleanse and recharge using some of the same techniques, for example placing under running water or in sunlight, but for me they're separate actions. So after having worked with a quartz point, I'll cleanse, but when I sense that the crystal's energies are a little low I will give it a holiday in whatever way seems right, for example placing it on a crystal bed.
