Question:

i've took a shine to this crystal, but have yet to purchase some -has anybody got some cherry quartz? i'm looking to use it as a dowsing pendulum.

Hi
I would be vary wary of using any cherry quartz for dowsing! Its basically a treated glass, not a true quartz at all more a 'cherry crystal' used mostly in jewellery. Beautiful to be sure but not really dowsing property.

thanks for your reply crystal, from your info i shall give cherry quartz a miss as i'm looking for a pure crystal , not one that has been tampered with!!!

Why?
You can use almost anything to dowse with...even a needle and cotton, so why not 'cherry quartz' regardless of whether it's glass or not[&:]
I would have said Calla Lily that if you are drawn to it and you wish to use it for dowsing...then go for it;)

I know use my trusty bloodstone pendulum but for years I used a silver pendant on the end of a chain, it really doesnt matter it is your intent that counts

Very true but would you go and buy an expensive needle to dowse with? No course not. So I felt it only fair to point out that properties that are known in the jewellery trade about cherry quartz thats all.
I don't agree, especially with quartz which is usually mined, extracted, graded, weighed, packed, transported then unpacked and sold... not much tampering there? No acids or uv or heat or electrolysis or irradiation, not even a wash usually.....?
But its a lovely Sunday so who am I to argue?

Answers:

All of which is a form of tampering[&:]
I'm not arguing...just giving my opinion...which is obviously different to yours;) so, on this occasion I think we need to 'agree to differ'

awwwww!! where was i when this thread was getting interesting..[sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif]
what i meant by tampering was a crystal that is not natural in its origin, for example, this one
even though this is quartz, it has had green dye added to give its colour.
i am in a bit of a state of confusion here, as the cherry quartz i have seen is from a crystal supplier and is actually listed under clear quartz so therefore would have the properties of clear quartz. however, in the jewellry trade, it is termed as a man made gemstone which has been dyed then heat treated to maintain its colour!
so my question now is- is there such a thing as natural cherry quartz?
i agree with stormdeva and tigerbee that anything can be used for dowsing as i used a gold ring on a chain to predict the sex of my children( it worked by the way!), as i am now learning tarot cards i'm looking for a crystal one now- i did try with a gold star on a chain but there was no connection whatsoever! i like the look of rainbow flourite and its properties..then again i liked raspberry quartz..AARRGGHHHH! decisions decisions!!
thanks for all your replies,

oooh oooh I love cards! I'm an avid reader, user and collector, I tend to drift to the NA and Egyptian one s but I have had magical success with tumblestone readings and also crystal runes. Didn't get on with the Crystal Ally cards though for one daft reason, they are too big and uncomfortable to handle and shuffle , such a shame I think.
If you're after a pendy or dowser, try and find a shop and see which one swings to attract you, there will be one I bet ;)
Rasberry, strawberry, cherry lol or even pineapple, just try and find the piece that is looking for you, it will be out there just waiting........

{{{{{{{{{Storm}}}}}}}}} come on explain to me please, this sounds like touching on the ecology and morality of mining? Or am I just being sensitive today?
Is there a way of extracting stones that you don't see as tampering with them then? I try and ensure my suppliers do as little as possible to the stones, and that the workers are safe, well paid and treated fairly. Some stones can be harvested easily from above ground in sandy ravines or banks and to be honest I am looking at ways of sourcing only stones that are not blasted from the Earth and don't leave a whacking huge scar on the landscape. No point in being a healer or lightworker or crystal therapist and causing large areas of devastation because we have caused a market for difficult to extract stones? That negates the whole point of doing good ?

when i finally get round to buying a pendulum, it will be very interesting what i do end up with-knowing me it will be something completely different to what i have in mind!!
this link may be of interest to you- www.tarotgarden.com at the moment i am using the hanson-roberts deck but fancied a change but until a few days ago i saw nothing i liked and thought maybe this was a sign to stick with what i got. as i was browsing on the above link, i stumbled across a deck which i never knew existed and as soon as i saw them i knew they were the deck for me! they are called the grecian eudaemon tarot deck as shown on ebay ( the photo is too big to upload on this post!) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SELENA-GRECIAN...QQcmdZViewItem
