Question:
Hi guys,
This college is part of a chain of beauty colleges around the midlands, there is one in nottingham called central college of beauty, one in sheffield and various others as well. I know they have a website because I've visited it recently but I can't remember what it is and when I search on google it only comes up with touch derby or touch nottingham and they don't give websites.
Any ideas? I could really do with looking at it. I do facial electrical etc but am not qualified, and really i need to be. They do it as one unit there and you get an ITEC at the end.
Hi
I studied at this college in complementary therapies. The website is: http://www.thecentralcolleges.co.uk/derby.htm
Thanks

Thank you!!! Really appreciate it. How do you rate the college? I want to make sure I'm choosing the right place, it looks really great but i suppose looks can be deceiving.
Hi
I thought the College was really professional, and it was really nice inside. All the lecturers are really helpful as well. It is a private college, and so I felt that it was a lot nicer than the main colleges etc.
Thanks

Hiya,
I'm currently studying at East Midlands College and have been doing so for about a year. I agree with Calmspirits in that the college is very nice inside, but that's about the only thing I found good about it!
The administration is atrocious, there have been times when my class has been cancelled and I've not been informed - I'm not the only person this has happened to. On two separate occasions I've left work early, dashed home to get changed, get to college only to find no class, no tutor!! Dates for courses seem to constantly change, as does the structure of them. I have a couple of friends who are doing the beauty course and they were told that their exams where being brought forward by a couple of months. Another friend doing Sports Massage found that she had to do an additional amount of hours in college, which she wasn't told about when she signed up. I know they've recently lost the adult education funding, so the courses are now a lot more expensive. So, yeah, other colleges may not be as 'pretty/professional' looking, but you'd probably get more for your money. Here's a suggestion - why not ask if you could have a chat with a couple of students at each college you're looking at, or possibly sit in on one of the classes?
On the plus side, I have made some great friends, but we all share the same thoughts - the only reason we keep going is the fact we've forked out the money!
Good luck,
Bliss

Hi
I studied at the college a few years ago now and the courses were really good value for money. I have heard that they are now alot more expensive. One of my friends has recently finished and she said that they were a bit unorganised. I also know therapists who have studied at other colleges in Derby - ie Derby College and although not as nice, had really good lecturers and didn't have any problems.
As Bliss said it is worth just keeping your options open and having a look around both colleges and speaking to some sudents.
