Question:
ok I've decided to ask! deep breath...
I believe my son may have a 'healing gift'. He says he can feel energy around people / animals and he has been able to pick up on physical problems accurately .He feels energy like 'magnets pushing against each other' (his words). Where theres a problem the energy feels 'heavy'. He says theres lots of energy in my chest also that pushes his hand away at that point but not bad energy. I have tried to find easy to understand info for him but its all for adults (he is only 8). My husband thought I was off my trolley so gave him the chance to try with him, he picked up on his dads bad knee which yes he would of known (although I never remember which one it is so 50/50)but he also picked up on a problem in my husbands spine and said it went out like this(across the shoulders at which point I thought he blew it but apparantly an osteopath has said he has a problem there which sends tingling across his shoulders and down his back which he hadnt even told me about as it happens rarely but he is aware of this (these are the only pains he ever suffers). My husband is very sceptical and it freaked him a bit especially as he said he could feel 'something' touching him although my sons hands were approx 10cm away all the time.
Is there any healers out there who can guide me as to if it sounds like he has a healing ability and how I can help him. He (my son) is keen to take it further especially to help animals.

Your son sounds as if he is truely gifted - a born healer (yes, I know we are all born healers) but this child is blessed to have a mother that is not 'knocking him'. I work with animals and love every minute of it...encourage him with your love.
I do not have any answers for you but I hope that others on this forum will be able to guide you.

What a wonderful thing for you and your son. He seems to be very well connected to the Universal Energy and will, with help and guidance, be able to use his ability to very good effect with animals and/or people - as he chooses.
I would recommend you to find your nearest Spiritualist Church and ask them for help. They will have many healers amongst their members and will be able to put you in touch with Teacher Healers who will be able to train your son in an understanding manner and be able to answer both his and your questions. There is a website http//spiritdir.com which has details of many Spiritualist Churches.
Perhaps you could approach the National Federation of Spritual Healers (NFSH) on their website at www.nfsh.org.uk. or even the Association of Spiritual Healing (ASH) www.ashcentre.co.uk. There are many other Spiritual Healing organisations who I am sure would be only too pleased to help you.

Sounds like you have a natural, you could be describing the way I was when I started many years age, please ask him to see if he can alter what he is feeling by concentrating his thoughts or rightness through his hands into the area that feels wrong and see if he can make them feel right, if so he has everything he needs and only needs to use it :-)

I would offer a different perspective for you to consider which is
simplicity itself. Your child has a natural gift, he already knows
instinctively what to do. Any form of training or concentration has the
potential to lessen the ability already possessed. To simply allow the
healing to happen has a far greater potential.
That ability will grow naturally as your child matures. As he needs
understanding it will be given through the experiences gained. Can we
suggest that as a family you encourage rather than fear this gift? It
is also likely that others that he meets will not understand, so again to
encourage him to keep this gift within the family while he grows
naturally in strength, insight and experience is beneficial.

Yes with time he will understand everything that he needs to, but for
the moment your son only has to simply place his hands where he feels they
need to be. What needs to happen will.
He has a gift that cannot be "lost" but it can be, let us say dampened,
by being subject to human understanding which has the potential to impose
severe limits. This gift however will present its own challenges as his
uniqueness becomes more apparent to others.
If we can help just call, we are working with a very special young lad
at the moment and to see the grin on his face as he allows and experiences
the energy is wowerful.

All the advice given is spot on. You mention that when you asked him if he could take the pain, he said he didn't know how to.
He seems aware that the energy is coming from somewhere. Perhaps he can ask the angels to help take the energy away. Just a suggestion, I'm sure that in time he will discover it for himself, but I see no harm in mentioning angels to children, as they are so close to them anyway.

I agree with energy here. your son has been blessed with a gift and the spirit world will show him the right way. sometimes when we go through training and join associations it over complicates things. of course if he chooses to join an association for guidance that is his choice but my gut feeling here is that he will be fine just the way he is and with contact and practice he will develop his gift in his own way.

There are one or two simple exercises he can try
you say he likens this energy to magnets? Then ask him to try reversing these 'magnets'. If when his 'magnets' are working as he knows them to now they are picking up 'heavy' energy, if you ask him to 'reverse' these magnets, then perhaps he will pick up lighter energies and for now that will be the way he will be able to understand what he is doing.
The other exercise is common (I believe) to most healers
The energy ball exercise. Ask your son to put his hands palms together and then to move his hands apart and to gently keep expanding the distance between his hands until the energy ball (magnet pull) between his hands stops. Then ask him to play with this energy. Ask him to ask the energy to change so he can recognise the changes. perhaps he may ask it to 'change colour' or perhaps he may like to ask it to remind him of his favourite hero!!! Anything nice he can think of that will help him to recognise the different feelings of the energy.
Finally, I would like to recomend a book that you will all find helpful. It may (will) be too advanced for your son as it stands, but if you read it to him then you could -perhaps - as a fmily discuss it together and do some of the exercises together. In fact turn it into a family celebration;)
It is called
Your Healing Power by Jack Angelo.
It's not a book to be read from cover to cover and can be done at the rate that best suits your son. Just do it at the rate that is comfortable for him and both you and -hopefully - your husband too.

There is a need to share a different knowing here. One without exercises or attempts to do anything other than allow the energy of healing to flow through "untrained" hands.
Training comes from humans who do not always know what is the appropriate thing to do with the energy of Spirit. Many wish to make the energy do what they desire. Any attempt to control this energy removes it from the realm of spirit and confines it to the realm of humans. This includes all attempts to become more aware of the energy through active approaches.
Please, refrain from exercises that put your mind in control of the energy for then it is your own that you play with. Instead, place your hands upon your own body, with no expectations, and allow your awareness of the energy of spirit to develop in the way that is best for you. Then you can do the same for others.
If the 'humans' are trained directly from the 'energies' from Spirit, they will KNOW, then it is appropriate that they pass on their message and methods. I have never encountered any healer who imposes his or her own will upon the outcome. I agree that one should have no expectations.

energyatwork, I believe that in many instances you are right when you say not to control the energy, but for those around the child, it may help them to be there for him and have some small understanding if he has questions if they have read the book recommended. As I said earlier, the book is certainly to detaileld for wispaways son to read, but I know and have read of those who as children didn't understand - and worse - had no one to turn to for that understanding - of what they were/are experiencing. If by reading Jack Angelo's book wispaway and her husband (if he wants to) can perhaps be there for their son if he has questions for them.
We all travel our path's alone, but that doesn't mean we can't ask for or extend help to others on the way.

Many thanks for all your replies concerning my son, I have taken all your suggestions on board and will update with any progress made. Jonjo you suggest the energy ball exercises which strangely enough is how all this began in October ! -- I knew of the energy ball exercise from a spiritualist developing group I used to attend although I'm not a spiritulist - I wish, just very intuative etc etc. Anyway I have always been very open of my beliefs regarding spiritulism and my son has always shown great interest. I first realised his gift when he came home from school and asked after the animal healing book I was reading I tried to explain about chakras and energy and started playing with 'energy balls' he was so intrigued at the feelings and how we coud sense each others energy from our hands even with our eyes shut. He seemed to be very aware of the energy lets say and so I asked him to run his hands around my body about 10 cm away and feel the energy - if he could, he very quickly told me that I had something not right on my right jaw with a poke - ouch- just where I'd developed toothache that very afternoon of which he knew nothing. He then moved onto his dad when he got in as described in the first post , I was blown away a bit and unfortunatey got a bit over enthusiastic which has unfortunately made him very reserved now as he is afraid of failing his mum, he is very sensitive emotionally. I could go on about other things he has done and said but wont bore you any longer. I will quietly encourage him and but trying to back off a lttle at present till he get his confidence back. I my ask if he wants to post here himself and see if you can help his confidence.
