Question:
I am interested in developing a career in massage therapy, I already do swedish massage, and Indian Head. What other types of massage are out there that I could learn, I know there is Aromatherapy, which I am looking at.
there is Ki massage (think thts spelt rite) and sports massage
Whats this, ki treament?
Ki massage awakens the deep nature of being on both a physical and mental level. By feeling the resonance of a patient’s body, stagnant energy is released, re-establishing harmony between mind and body. It has a unique approach to life and healing which develops inner awareness and sensitivity.
Everyday pressures can often manifest themselves into physical and emotional problems, distortions of life energy, indicating the body’s innate willingness to seek balance. Using guidance and sensitivity of touch, internal resonance can be felt and enhanced by following a pattern of movement (life energy or Ki) within the body, allowing space and time to release stagnant energy. The practitioner works with you to bring your body into a more healthy, harmonious and sensitive state.

There are soo many forms and variations of massage - thats what makes it so wonderful. Some that come to mind - Watsu, Hot Stone, Thai, Chair Massage, No Hands Massage (my personal fave), Breema, Sports, MA-URI - details on some of these and more can be found on the Wikipedia site.

I have been looking for ideas, I have decided to go for the sports massage, and a few others. Intrigued by no hands massage, is this done on the hydro bed.
Excellent - glad to see you have made a decision spiritualhapiness. Sports massage is a really good one for really developing your understanding of the body and helping athletes reach peak performance - though it hurts a little too much for my liking.
No Hands massage is a way of massaging zero-strain, you don't use your hands or thumbs. Most of the work is done through the soft front of the forearm. It is very deep, *very* powerful and fantastic to both give and receive. It is a very new method of massaging with just over 200 practitioners in the UK and a handful more based in Thailand. More information can be found on their website - www.nohandsmassage.com or please pm me if you want some more info.
