Question:
Hi everyone. Hubby has a obsessive compulsive personality and has had for years now. Got him into trouble a bit when he was younger but these days it usually rears its ugly head by having to read a book from cover to cover without putting it down or starting a came on the PC and having to complete the whole thing before he comes to bed (he's been known not to come to bed before 6am at times, which causes some strain between us to say the least!!), that kind of thing.
But on the other hand, it gives him the drive and determination to succeed with his business, and obviously I don't want to change that! But I'd like to try EFT with him and don't know where to begin. I wondered if someone may be able to give me some pointers. I have the download manual and have tried it for myself so am aware of the techniques.
Many thanks for your help [sm=hug.gif]

Take one thing at a time.
Try focusing on one particular event at a time.
Start at the beginning of the event i.e. when he first started playing the game on the PC and ask him how it makes him feel. It's important that it's in his own words.
So if he says something like "I feel like I just can't wait to see what's going to happen next" use a setup statement that's based on that such as "Even though I can't wait to see what's going to happen next..." and a tapping statement of "I just can't wait". Perhaps have him focusing on the game in the box whilst he's doing it.
You may also want to consider what he's eating/drinking if he's managing to go through the night like that. i.e. too much coffee, cola, tea etc will just act a stimulant. I'm sure there would be more advice on this in the Diet and Nutrition forum.

Thanks for the advice Giles [sm=hug.gif] I'll get to work on him! We've just been talking about it a little and, I don't know, he's a very complex person to say the least!!
Take the other night for example, he thought he'd see what was on tv for five mins before coming to bed as he'd been working all night. And he ended up coming to bed at 3am. It was total cr*p on the telly, but he just had to keep watching, and keep watching. For five hours. Luckily he's one of those people who can survive on very little sleep. Although it does get to a stage when, if it carries on for more than a few days, he gets grumpy from lack of sleep.
I couldn't seem to get down to the root of the issue, not yet anyway. It seems that it goes back to childhood, when he used to read a dozen books in the space of a week when on holiday with his parents - thats his earliest memory of it so far.
We'll have another chat tonight and agree on something he can start to tap on, and go from there.
Thanks again!
Love,
Lou

Hi Lou,
Just to provide another opinion, I assume he wants this treated? It's not that EFT is going to do anything bad to him, but maybe he doesn't see it as a problem. Then again, he's probably asked you for help :)
