ear wax or beeswax?
Question:

Hi, I am new to this forum and was just reading thread below about whether the wax in the candle is earwax or beeswax. I just thought that I would share with other members what my tutor thinks about this. I have been trained in earcandling by Andrew Sceats who is a respected lecturer on ear candling. He has written a book called ''Ear Candling - and other treatments for ear, nose and throat problems'' which is available in a number of places and is very good. He has paid alot of money to commision the accredited Reading Scientific Services Laboratory to test burnt and new Biosun Original Hopi ear candles to see if the residue is indeed ear wax or beeswax. The test found no ear wax, skin cells or hair cells, the wax was entirely beeswax and he explains why this is so in his book.
Just thought you maybe interested,

Hi and welcome!
Im sorry if i seem a bit dumb askin this but i have read your post and im wonderin, are you saying that the candles really do or do not work or that if you burn them when new, that they give the same sort of residue, i.e do not draw out ear wax, im a little confused!

Hi there
Its true that many studies have been done on testing the residue from in the candles after burning, and its been confirmed that it is not wax but beeswax and the essential oils, ect. Even so, the candles still work in helping people with snoring, sinuses, ect. Here's a bit from an article I found by Patrick Quanten, www.activehealthcare.co.uk:
The air inside the candle is unique for each person and each occasion. We all have an aura / energy field around us. The 'air around the body belongs to us, is an essential part of us. It is the energy field that makes us the way we are. Changing the qualities of this air changes the way the body is.
Fire changes the personal energy field by warming it, drying it and making it lighter. If the qualitites of the energy field are mainly heavy and damp (excess mucus in bodily terms), then the fire will burn this away and change it to a drier and lighter state, and the mucus will vanish in the same way water disappears out of a saucepan when you put it over a fire.
The heavier elements within the energy field will be driven out and materialize in dry powder. More warmth in the body will be captured in fat globules in the same way we store energy - heat - in fat molecules inside the body.
The essential parts of the candle necessary for the best results are the burning time and the diameter of the candle. The longer it burns and the greater the heat delivered to the air column, the more powerful the effect.
Ear candling is a very effective and safe method to improve health, but we need to realize that it works only on an energetic level.
In simple terms, one could say that ear candling adds a lot of extra energy to the system, which the system will then use to the best of its ability, wherever it is needed the most.

Hi,
Just replying to Therapeutic Angels message. Sorry I should have been more specific - I was not suggesting that ear candling does not work, I absolutely do believe that they work and know that they help people alot. As I said I myself am trained in there use and my trainer is very dedicated to the treatment. I was merely sharing the results of his research. I just noticed that some people on the threads below were insisting that it was earwax and just thought people might be interested. Andrew Sceats teaches his students to always look in the candle afterwards as he believes that the residues give a clue as to the state of the person ENT health.

I would tell you exactly what you say in your signature! Hopi Ear candles is one of the best things I have ever done, I get fantastic results, very happy clients and a great deal of satisfaction from the therapy. The treatment is a natural way to help the body help itself, so 'sucking' all the earwax out of someone wouldn't be, imho, natural. That is what syringing does - and it is not natural, especially considering that some earwax is required to protect the tympanic membrane. If the body needs to relieve itself of earwax, this will happen over the next 48 hours in a natural way after a treatment.
Keep doing it, it's great! :D

Hi
I trained with Linda Stokes, who along with Sue Maunsell made it a therapy and gained insurance for it. No doubt Andrew Sceats trained with either one of them or perhaps someone who was trained by them. The problem is then that a lot of information tends to get diluted the further down the line it gets. There is a lot of misinformation being given out by therapists, not to mention tuturs.
We were told NEVER to open the candles in front of clients as they would only be disappointed when the candles didn't contain wax and might think their treatment a waste of time. I really don't see the point in opening them, if the treatment works it works!!!
Just my opinion.
