Question:
This is way too good not to share!
I have always had a problem reading. So after posting a little in this forum and reading some of the letters on the www.emofree.com website, I decided to start tapping. I went to the local bookstore and got myself a nice thick 1000 page book on how to program in the language C++.
I looked at the first few pages of this book and it just looked like every other book I have tried to read "just text and text and text, and pages and pages and pages". Anyway, I read a small paragraph of the book and I instantly forgot what I read. I was able to read the text ok but I was not remembering what I was reading by the time I got to the end of the paragraph.
So I tapped, "even though I can't remember what I just read in that paragraph..."
I tried reading that paragraph again and to my amazement, I actually understood what I read and was able to (in my mind, tell myself what I just read in my own words). This is a first for me! But there were certain things in the paragraph, which I didn't remember fully.
So I tapped, "even though I still have a slight problem remembering what I just read in that paragraph...."
I tried reading that paragraph again and I remembered it all! Not word for word but everything the author was trying to tell the reader! This was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced.
Then I thought, hang on, I might only be understanding this paragraph because I have read it a few times now, so I tried the 1 after that. To my amazement, I understood it fully by reading it once!
After that I tapped on the following:
Even though I can't read fluently out aloud
Even though I can't explain what I just read out aloud
Even though I keep replacing words with what I think should be there when I read out aloud *
Even though I can't read fluently in my mind
Even though I can't explain what I just read in my mind
Even though I keep replacing words with what I think should be there when I read in my mind *
I added a star to two of those set-ups because they are interesting. For some reason, I kept replacing actual words in the book with other words when I was trying to read. E.g. one of the paragraphs started with the word "Traditionally", but for some reason I said "Normally". So I decided to tap on that too.
Then I flicked to a fresh page and instantly noticed that the page looked so light and nicely broken into small manageable paragraphs. I thought, maybe this page is like that and the other page had larger paragraphs. So I want back to the first page and that page too looked light and broken into small manageable sections.
Then I thought, "wow", all this time I have found looking at pages full of text daunting, and because I had gotten so used to it, I didn't realise it anymore! After the tapping all these pages look so simple, so light!
So I flicked back to another page and that too looked amazingly light. I started reading out aloud. It put a smile on my face when I understood it all as I was reading paragraph after paragraph. After I finished "I only read this page once". I was able to "in my mind", tell myself what each and every paragraph was about and in the correct order of the paragraphs!!!!!!!!!
I mean I cannot even start to describe how happy this made me feel. Before I tapped on all the above, I would have had to read 1 paragraph about 5 - 6 times just to read it fluently and still wouldn't understand the concepts behind that paragraph. Now 1 time is enough for me to fully understand that paragraph.
So because of those tapping set-ups, I have improved my reading, improved my concentration, improved my memory, and improved my confidence in reading. I feel that I can pick up any book and just start reading and feel that I will understand it straight away, as long as I know the meaning of the words I am reading. All that in about half an hour "excluding the time it took me to buy the book ofcourse! :D".
Just thought of something else to tap on, somehow increase my voc
Ah man, the title was too long and got chopped off! It should have read "How I improved my reading, concentration, memory, and confidence in reading with EFT!"

Outstanding Narmi! I am sooo pleased for you!
Why don't you send a copy of your post off to Gary Craig for his comments. He loves to get good reports on EFT success, especially from EFT newbies like yourself.
You may be helping many other EFTers who have been suffering liek you have.
Hugs
Steve
TigerBee - Thanks, I do hope this continues for me and for others!
SteveBishop - Thanks, I might just do that! Guess I will have to look for a link on his website where I can post this. Thanks for the suggestion.
I can't seem to find an email address on that site! Do you know how to get in touch with Gary Craig. If its a personal contact then you can always email him yourself if he doen't want to give out his email address!
I've just read your experience of EFT and its definitely something I have to try too, so next time I go to read a book that is daunting (most of them) I will give this a go.
Thanks :)
[sm=1syellow1.gif] Good for you!
I wonder... "Even though reading by osmosis doesn't actually work...". If only. Think how many books we could get through in a day. :D
brilliant and well done, some people think eft is only for clearing emotional issues. like gary craig says "try it on everything"

Well done on making such good progress.
Have PM'd you about Gary Craigs email.
Love and Reiki Hugs
Certainly shows you that EFT can also be used on subjects that you would normally just battle on with without even the thought of getting help for.
I think its really good to hear of the more rare successes of using EFT on issues like this, it shows you the depth of what EFT can provide.
Hi Narmi,
That's great, well done!
Thanks
Even though this worked for me, the results seem to be temporary and normally last 1 to 2 days! Why is this?
As an analogy, it's as though your chopping the tops off your trees (issues) and they're growing back. It's likely that you need to get to the root of the issue and try and chop it down from there. Once you manage to get to the roots, it tends to stay away.
