Question:
Hiya All![sm=1kis.gif]
(Hope this isn't the wrong place to ask....I've tried the HP Search facility and not found anything. Maybe this should be in the General section?)
Someone has always pointed me in the right direction when I've needed help...you're amazing on HP![sm=grouphug.gif]
Here's the question......I'm going to Glasgow for the day by train on 21st June - will be there about 11 hours in all. Have never been there before and time is at a premium. Can anyone recommend any good specialist shops or even more general New Age shops to head for immediately I set foot off the train?![sm=dogrun.gif][sm=dogrun.gif]Dave will be with me but he loves crystals too! The day would be a flop in my eyes if I don't find one!! (Maybe there's loads but I haven't time to waste since we'll be hoping to see other things too!)
Looking forward to a positive flood of possibilities from you all dear chums![sm=hug.gif]Either here or PM would be great.
Thank you[sm=love-smiley-009.gif]
Much love and thanks as usual!

This was an accurate list a while ago - but some may have closed by now - best check before setting out... I have a list of 500+ shops throughout the UK, but it's getting a bit dated.!

This doesn't answer my question for my day in Glasgow, but it's worth knowing (for future reference) all the same! Someone else may be off to some of these places shortly......
Thanks for your time though! Much appreciated.

Hi Tigs[sm=sandrine.gif]Bless you!
Thanks for your offer of help to my Conumdrum:D
The more tips the better!!! Dave has been to Glasgow before we met, but I've never been there. Basically we could do with knowing about some of the bestest bits in order to get a flavour of the place. We haven't discussed anything, no plans. One thing is definite - Dave will be looking for a nice comfy chair in a Starbucks, cappuchino in hand! Or at least a Costa Coffee which runs close behind in his ratings!
Much love, Crystal Spirit xxx[sm=love-smiley-009.gif]xxx

There is a nice little crystal shop off Great Western Road, but I can't remember the name or street... [&:] I tend to frequent Edinburgh more... Umm, it's not far up on the left side, if that's any help! [8D]
Dave will find a lovely comfy chair and Starbucks coffee in Borders, on Buchanan Street. Just round the corner from there is the Lighthouse - a Design centre built around a Charles Rennie MacIntosh building. Worth it for the building alone. Along from Borders is Princes Street Gardens - beautiful centre with extremely pricy shops! Behind Borders is the Gallery of Modern Art - some lovely pieces on show there.
You can visit Glasgow School of Art, the Willow Tearooms (both CRM buildings), McLellan Galleries... all off Sauchiehall Street about ten mintues from there. If it's a sunny day, go visit the Botanical Gardens, Great Western Road, and see one of Glasgow's beautiful parks. Down by the river you've got the Science Centre, amongst other things.
Actually, if you like architecture, just wander round the city with your eyes on the buildings and you'll really get the 'flavour'. Beautiful Georgian crescents off Gt. Western Road.
Hope that gives you a few pointers...

Here y'go - this is from my list of "new age" shops... these may have crystals, but probably don't have much in that direction. Again they are subject to the possibility of closure.

hi Crystal Spirit
I'm Scottish and have lived just outside Glasgow all my life although am now in Germany!!. The shops which are mentioned are very good however if you can explore a little further afield in Gourock and Largs there are two excellent suppliers. The first lady Avril trades under the neme "Crystal Cupboard" from her home and has a wonderful selection as well as being very modestly priced and is based in Gourock. (Also a beautifull town to visit as it's next to the river Clyde). The second shop is in Largs and is also very good. (Again lovely costal town with great little specialist stores - my fav being IBAC)
Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful time in Scotland.

Firstly, welcome to HP - hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!
Many thanks for your reply. We won't be straying out of Glasgow on Tuesday, but I'm going to make a note of the places you mention for future reference....it sounds as if they are worth a visit!
Thank you so much!

Hi Everyone![sm=wave.gif]
Sorry been a bit late getting back to this thread to thank everyone who took the time to help me. Dave and I had a really great time in Glasgow and it was warm and sunny too!:)We really got a flavour of the place and the time seemed to fly.......But I just want to mention that we found one of the New Age shops recommended - WHAT an Aladdin's cave it was too, absolutely wonderful. Full of specialist crystals, wands, jewellery, books, tarot and Wicca items. If anyone else is in Glasgow it is certainly worth finding (not that far from the main train station either.) It's called 23Enigma on High Street, Glasgow. (From the station you'll find it on the right side of the road. The lady told me they have a website too.
Thanks once again everyone! We'll certainly go back to visit there.
