Question:
I have just discovered first hand that my son has healing ability. He is six!
What does he need to know?
I have explained a little, like when I am giving him healing energy he always asks what I am doing and how it works etc, and I am now wondering what he miht need to know asap seeing as he has started himself.
He uses a bubble of protection regularly, so I told him to put himself in that to protect himself when doing 'helping' as he calls it.
I am worried that he might get drained, as his energy felt so lovely and peaceful and tranquil.
I also told him to always ask that the energy be used for the 'best'.
Any advice?

Well I would let him work with crystals and teach him how to feel the energy of plants, flowers and trees. If he is mature for his age then at about eight he could be ready for a reiki course the youngest I have trained was eleven and she was simply amazing!
Have no fear or worry he will be fine the angels will take good care of him

Hi,
it sounds like you have already done the right things, you have remembered intention and protection which is important in keeping him safe and well. Teach him to simply ground himself after his helping is done.
As far as draining himself is concerned, yes there can be dangers both mentally and physically, energy wise but there is no reason that this has to happen. You might want to talk simply about where this energy comes from, ie from the universe, if you are religious your son might understand that it comes from God, it matters not as long as it is right for you guys.
He can then understand that energy comes from outside and he is the chanel for it and has a great natural ability to give it to others, if he understands this then he will not then start to send out all of his own persoanl, needed reserves. The only thing he then needs to give out from himself is love and good intention...that bit you have already sorted out.

Hi Buttereflydeva,
How wonderful! My youngest daughter was 7 when I did my Reiki 1&2 and badgered me for a year to let her do "what Mummy does". I happened to see my Reiki Master at a MBS up in London who took one look at her and asked did I know she was a 'special' one? I told him that she had been asking for a year to learn Reiki but I thought she may be too young. His answer was that he had also thought the same but he had recently had a spate of parents approach him and ask if children could be attuned? He had meditated on this and was 'told' to teach the children as they were the future. The following weekend she did her 'Children's' Reiki 1 and started using it immediatley!. She is now 14 and a very strong healer ( she recently did her adult Reiki 1/2 with another Master) and we now regularly have Reiki sharing moments at home which is wonderful.
You seem to have said and done all the right things so far. The best you can do is encourage and support him and answer his questions as and when he asks them.
What a wonderful jouney you are now both on!

What a wonderful thread to read when there is so much sadness and destruction happening in the World around us. I feel that there is real hope if we can help the younger generations to spread the healing message throughout their peer groups - helping them to understand that there are ways in which we can each do our own little bit to make the World a safer, more pleasant and loving place.
Love and light to you all.

Hi Butterfly Deva,
That is really wonderful, and how special for you both to be able to do healing work together. I have taught about 7 children now from age 6 upwards. It is truly a humbling experience teaching children Reiki, since they are already so close to the source, it feels a little like they are empowering you!
It is amazing really, that children can accept how the special energy is used by them, even though they cannot always see it, they are so accepting unlike some adults who question everything.
These young children like yours really are our future as the song goes, and many of them are special in this way like your son.
Not all of them are lucky though to have a parent to encourage and support them in this aspect of their life.
A parent I know who lives in the next village was chatting the other day to me about learning Reiki and for her children to learn also as a family. The youngest daughter already sees little lights of rainbow she calls her fairy family and her mother although not fully understanding, supports her daughter and encourages her which is wonderful.
As Indian Rainbow mentioned this posting is very uplifting and heartwarming and I wish you both well in your joint healing ventures together.
With much Love and Light

My first Reiki teacher believed that all children can channel Reiki, but we "forget" and close down to it as we get older...

I agree with Artemis. All children can channel energy and see Spirit and auras. However some of them choose to loose their ability due to peer and adult 'pressure'.
(the - Don't be silly! Grandma isn't blue and your imaginary friend isn't there - syndrome)
Your son is very lucky having you for his mother, Butterfly Deva, because you ARE doing the 'right' thing and he will not lose his ability if it is nurtured and he is told not to make mention of it to those who would poo-poo it.
"choose" is maybe too strong a word here! I would say that either the abilitiy is not encouraged (grandma is not blue), or none of the adults arround recognise it for what it is, so it gets lost (it's fun, but what can you do with it?).

Hi Butterfly
All children have the ability to heal naturally it is something that they are born with, sadly society tends to be somewhat intolerant of what children know and accept as far as Spirit is concerned. In our experience this natural gift is generally given up at an early stage of their young lives. It is a choice that children make simply because it is an easier road for them to travel if they forgo what they fully understand in order to fit in with adults who have long forgotten the experiences of their early years. Your child as yet has not taken up that option and that is a credit to your approach to his upbringing.
Your son already has the energy direct from source, why would he need anything else? To accept that one so young knows by instinct what adults struggle to understand can give the ego a nudge, the advice i would give if you will allow it is simply this.
Encourage your son to follow the instincts he has naturally, unconditional love is generally far easier to express through a child before human understanding is imparted. Sadly humanly evolved methods can be detramental as far as growth through the use of healing energy is concerned.
At this moment your son is aware of no limitations or expectations when he places his hands on another, he is in full harmony with the unconditional love of Spirit. You are encouraged to permit your son to continue his own uniqueness. Continued use of the his natural abilities will reveal to him what he needs to know for his own growth. Healing is an instinctive action in one so young, it is beyond price.
