Question:
Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I just received my Reiki I about a week and a half ago, and I had a question. My reiki master had never tried, so I'm putting it out there to see if anyone can give me some insight.
Does reiki work on old scar tissue, and if so , how well? I wasn't sure, because technically the tissue is healed, but it certainly doesn't look like good healthy skin. The reason I ask is this: My girlfriend had surgery for a kidney problem when she was young, around age 6 I believe. This left her with a large scar along her beltline, very similar to a ceasarian scar. It's deep, and looks like a fold of skin the way the tissue above and below have 'caved in' to the scar. Now, cosmetically, this doesn't bother me, but I know it's a big body issue thing for her. Also, I wonder about the abdominal muscle tissue underneath; she's always had trouble doing any kind of ab work and she's convinced that when they cut through it, the muscle was weakend and the area below the scar atrophied. She's self conscious about it, and more importantly, I wonder if it will pose a problem should we decide to have children; How well does your belly expand when there's a thick rope of scar tissue across the middle of it, you know?
Anyway, if any of you have any thoughts/ insights/suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I've been giving her treatments as often as I can, but like I said, it's only been a short while and it's an old scar, so I haven't seen anything yet. Thanks again!
Well what an interesting question ...It will be interesting to read the replies to this, I personally don't have experience of this, however, my husband does have a nasty scar about 2" long and very deep on the base of his back...and although he often has Reiki in that area, I must admit I have never noticed whether it has affected the scar or not
Oh by the way Welcome to HP Sword_of_Michael

Personally - I've tried Reiki on old cysts and had no luck shifting them.
I have heard of some stuff you can get in Boots which works on dissolving scar tissue - I'm sorry I don't know what it's called but I know it comes in sheets. (I've just Googled on it and didn't come up with anything sensible). As to working out - (I'm a Pilates teacher) - it is more difficult when nerve endings are cut through ( there's less feed back) but mostly the body can work around it. As far as pregnancy is concerned, I'm pretty sure everything will be fine - but please ask an expert - you might even find one here. If not ask a medic. Don't forget - women have one or two caesarians and go on to have another child. I guess it depends on the scarring.

Hi there,
Cold pressed sesame oil, not the toasted or heated stuff you get in supermarkets, will help to soften the scarring tissue. Because it happened so long ago the skin has settled into that pattern of growing. It would be very interesting to see what reiki does. But together with the reiki I would use the sesame oil after every shower and every day.
It is the nearest oil to your own body oil and is rapidly absorped by the body and if put on straight after scarring can almost work miracles. It is brilliant as a mosituriser and fantastic for ezcema. I use it on my hands when it flares up, I get it very mildly, but within a few hours the skin has softened again and isn't so itchy.
goodluck

Thank you all for the insight. I will definitely try the sesame oil. I don't know what Boots is, I'm in the States, but I think I've seen similar products in the grocery store or pharmacy. It's pretty deep, so I don't know if it'll work, there's a large cleft in the tissue that those products won't fill in, but...I'm sure reiki has worked many miracles before, I certainly can't hurt to try!
Hi
Go to a really good delicatessan and ask for cold pressed seasame oil. They should have it. It is brilliant for burns and scarred tissue, preventing stretch marks etc. It will soften the tissue over time, but keep up the reiki.
good luck

First of all Welcome to HP.
I have a large scar on my knee from an operation for Arthritis and whilst Reiki certainly eases the pain and stiffness of the arthritis, I'm sorry to say the scar has stayed just the same. However that's not to say Reiki won't work a miracle for your girlfriend. :)
Hiya...
My exboyfriend has really bad scars on his face from a cycling accident. Never thought to try Reiki but its worth a try and can't do any harm!
Other than that... He has tried LOADS of differnt special creams and that... At the end of the day the things that havegiven the best results are alovera cream (sp?) and vitemin E oil....
Hope that helps!
