lash & brow tinting, lash perming
Question:

Hi there
Do any of you offer these services and if so what are your charges, and do you find they are asked for a lot?
Apparently there have been a lot of people asking for this service at the hairdressers where I rent room 3 days a week. Have an opportunity to go on a course next week and wondered if it was worth it, I think the course is about £123 in total.

Hi,
The treatment is quite popular and a good one to have. i charge 9.00 for eye lash tint and 11 for lashes and brows. I work from home so can charge a bit less thanthe salons. Round my local area(west Sussex country side) lashes seem to often be about 10.00.
The lash tinit is not very expensive..recently i bought a kit with a brush, peroxide, small mixing bowl, blak tint, black blue, brown and grey as well as cut eye shields..though i prefer to cut my own cotton pads for this job.
it is a treatment tat clients either have on their own and it doesn't take long and lots of them like to add this on to a facial and will only add on ten minutes to the timing for a facial.

it seems more popular at this time of year, due to holidays, swimming etc.

I did the training solutions course on eyelash tinting and perming at sallys and it was excellent. I have already carried out enough treatments in two weeks to pay for the training and equipment. I charge £25 for a tint and perm, £20 for just a perm and £8 for just a tint. Its really relaxing for the client, and can also give an eyebrow shape as part of the same session, or even a mini mani, mini pedi or ihm. The results are really dramatic!
another advantage at this time of the year is for hayfever sufferers who have watery eyes and don't want to be wearing mascara.

Hi periwinkle!
it was a one day course, but you could choose just to do perming in the morning, or tinting in the afternoon which worked out more expensively. Combined the course was £105 plus the VAT then to actually practice you need to buy the kit, which was £39.95 plus VAT for students perming kit and about £17.95 (I think) for the tint kit. I also needed petroleum jelly, cotton buds, a roll of perm isolater, disposable mascara wands, fancy new container to put all said items in....
Total bill still less than £200 including the VAT and already covered that!
Only one day, but felt entirely confident to practice safely and all clients so far have been delighted with the results.
Also did attaching individual false lashes - WOW!!!!

Wow! sounds cool.
a one day course sounds good to (as i need to take a day off work to do it (boring office job)). so to be able to do it all in one day would be cool!
i was going to ask that as well, so you feel confident in treating from just doing a one day course? i take it you do practice when your there?
sounds like a lot of kit as well! hehe. will have to start saving then wont i?!
false eyelashes!?

Answers:

it sounds a lot but 8 treatments and you are done! And the kit has at least enough for 15 to 20 treatments, eventhough it only says enough for 10. After that you can buy larger kits for perming with 3 or 4 bottles of each perm, finisher and collagen conditioner which is actually much more economical at about £70 giving about 60 treatments.
It is galling though as the bottles are tiny - haven't checked the label but can't be more than about 10 ml, much smaller than a bottle of nail varnish!

I did the tinting at college and still want to do the perming.
I take £6 for an eyelash tint, £4 for a brow tint and £4 for a brow wax.
Which is cheap, yea, but it's the going rate round my way.

I didn't think it was safe to do a perm and a tint together in one treatment? In any case, I charge £7 for a brow tint and £8 for a lash tint. I don't offer perms. I think it's a completely pointless treatment that doesn't always work. Its expensive and embarrassing when you're client isn't pleased. False lashes are a lot better, quicker and less fiddly.

Answers:

All my clients who have had eyelash perms have been absolutely thrilled with the results! You have to make sure that the roller you use is the right size and attention to detail ie making sure you comb the lashes through and apply them to the roller straight, makes all the difference.

I do all that! Maybe it's the brand.
