Question:
Guys
I've got 3 insect bites on one of my legs - one at the back of my knee and the other 2 directly beneath it. My leg is itching and swollen!
I've been putting Tea Tree, Lemon and Lavendar on them and I'm taking anti-histamines (Zirtek) anyway because of the oil-seed rape/May flowers.
They appear to be getting worse instead of better (feels very tight) and I have 2 massages to do later and I'm working tomorrow - I just don't think I can stand for that long!
Really don't want to go to see my GP so any advice you have would be gratefully received.
Didn't know whether to put this in Allergies or Aroma[&:].
well I was going to suggest tea tree or lavender but you've already tried those.... erm.... witch hazel is good for cooling it down which may help.... but apart from that I'm stumped... [&:]

Thanks honey[sm=hug.gif]. I've got a cold compress with the above oils on at the moment. I'm sitting with it elevated and if it hasn't improved in an hour, I'm going to see my friendly chemist for his advice.
Rubbing ice on bites normally helps. But apparently rubbing a bite with normal deodorant also stops the itching immediately.
Ouch! I hate bites, once you itch you just can't stop. [&:]
Sometimes, it doesn't matter what you put on the bites, they can become infected. So if they're swollen and oozing, you probably need to get to your doctor to get some anit-biotics. Do it before the weekend though or it will just get worse.

Have you tried eucalyptus oil on your bites? Can stop itching at times. And it is a good disinfectant too (as is lavender and tea tree). If it's painful, you may want to try clove compresses? boil some cloves, let it get cold, soak the water in a compress and apply to the itchy part. Works as an anesthetic too.
In Switzerland I would be recomending the aluminium actetate cream you find in any pharmacy.
