Phone client
Question:

Hi everyone.
I have arranged my first over the phone session with a "proper job" colleague.
A few years ago she got very drunk and fell over, breaking her leg and both arms. She hasn't had a decent night's sleep since because of the pain in her knee and ankle. Her GP doesn't think she has come to terms with what happened as she never seems to take it seriously.
I am not sure whether I should concentrate on the sleepless nights/pain, on the event itself, what was going on in her life at the time or just take it as it comes. I have asked to her to be aware of, but not dwell on, her thoughts as she lies awake.
Would love to hear your opinions.
Thanks
Sarah

Well... you could start anywhere and see where it goes.
I think I'd start with asking how she felt when she first realised that she'd broken her leg/arms and then take it from there.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner - this is due to a technical hitch.
The session went well, starting with how the lack of sleep is affecting, through a range of issues, culminating in how she feels guilty when she is late for meeting someone.
During the treatment she reported having a funny feeling in the top of her head just at the same time as I started with a funny feeling on the top of my head. The funny feelings moved simultaneously, mirroring each others and both disappeared at the same time at the end of the session. I put this down to being in tune with her.
She has reported sleeping through most nights since.
