Hi,
I used to think you could only do distant reiki when at reiki 2.
However on reading the forum over the past year I now know it can be done when your reiki 1 only not as strong. The question I have is, do you have to state you are open to the reiki energy like you do when the person is with you, or can you just state the intention is for it to flow at a specific time. I would love some info on this. :)

Distant Reiki can be sent backwards and forwards through time, as well as being sent 'in the now'. In the earlier thread "Distant healing over time", you will find some accounts of this. Here's the link:

As Laura rightly say Reiki can be sent back wards , Past present & future. My belief is that intent is the key thing here..If it is your intent to send healing to someone who has asked for it , and you set that intent to be for the highest good then i se no reason why healing will not get to a person. Whether or not its as strong as a Reiki 2 I dont know but it really doesn't matter as healing with pure intent at Reki1 is as good anything IMO.

Can I just add that anyone can send distant healing to anyone, you do not need to be attuned, so it matters not what reiki level you have completed. Intent is the key, it's as simple as that.

The relative 'strength' of the Reiki is also discussed in the earlier thread, and I don't want to repeat myself, so I will just say here that in my own experience, and that of those I have had the privilege to attune to Reiki 2, it IS stronger than Reiki 1.
EDIT, since Rosi and I posted at the same time: I agree with the 'it's the intent that counts' side of it.

This might be so in your experience Laura and I agree that this might be the case in many instances, but I have been witness to the opposite also. Where people attuned to Reiki 1 had greater results in sending distance Reiki than some peole attuned to Reiki 2.

I think that we are all going to have many differant experiences here. I know of those who are Reiki 2 that are stronger than Reiki i & vice versa I know people of Reiki who are naturally stronger healers than some masters....
