and afterwards?
Question:

What do you do at the end of a Reiki treatment? I did my Reiki 1 and 2 with 2 different RMs and they both taught me different methods of sweeping down the aura at the end of a treatment.
Does everyone do this?
I wasn't taught to do this to myself after a self treatment though.
Is this necessary and if so, why not after a self treatment?

Good question Floffle. I always sweep down (as taught) at the end of the treatment. I usually self-treat before I go to sleep though: I'm nearly always asleep before the end, but it would be impractical to sweep down after that anyway. Perhaps I'm lazy in yet another way..........

Hi Floffle.... I've seen some corkers of aura sweeps in my time... had one lady who came in like an airplane landing, whoosh! She was very puzzled when I said she really didn't need to do it that way... :D
Anyway, I always gently sweep the aura since I believe it's a good way to 'close' after you've been working within the person's energies and in some cases, seems to remove lingering negativity from the aura. There's no need to sweep after a selftreat, but it wouldn't do any harm.

Hi Spinal Music and Moonfeather,
Thanks for your replies, your airplane landing lady made me smile!
Sharon, if you are lazy then we all are, as many people here seem to do what you do and self treat in bed before falling asleep!
I was puzzled when my second RM showed me a different way from the first, but she said that the purpose of it was to remove any negativity from the aura that had been released from the body by the treatment. We were then told to blow the negative energy out of our hands at the end of each sweep and send it to the universe, and then to hold our hands over the client afterwards to heal any holes or imbalances in the aura.
I just wondered how many different sweeps there were out there!

Hi Floffle,
interesting thread. I finish by sweeping down from head to feet and then sending whatever came off up to the Universe to be transmuted into unconditional love. I also end with my hands over the person's head and request that this healing be for the highest good of all concerned ( I can still feel the energy flowing at this point). I then thank the energy for choosing me as a channel for it and thanking my teacher for his/her loving guidance at all times. I finish by thanking all those from other realms and dimensions who have come to blend their energy with those before us. Sounds a bit long-winded but all of this is said in my head and has evolved over time. No RM has shown me to do the sweeping, it was something I was guided to do very early on. The rest to me is just good manners, to say thank you!

Hi foffell
Ive been watching this thread, with interest . I read your first post & thought OWW I wasn't taught anything other than to rub my hands to gether to break the connection. I have to say. I, like Reikiangel found my own way of sweeping down. I think like most everything in Reiki what you are guided to do by following your inuition.

Hi,
So long as you finish the whole session on the feet, so the person is grounded, there is no need to sweep any energy away.
I keep things simple, as simple as Reiki.

I sweep down the aura twice to remove any negative energies, then I wrap them foot to head in white light and protective energies..
