Question:
Morning all,
My wife has been told by her nurse to not eat Grapes as they are full of sugar and to only eat 2 or 3 bananas a week.
Is this right?

Hi Russ
In what context has she been told this?
I'm intrigued as I eat at least one banana a day if not 2.
When I had Canidiasis a nutrionist told me to avoid bananas, grapes and melons as these were the fruits most likely to feed fungal infections.
Hi both,
She is having problems shifting weight so I advised her to ask for a blood test to be taken. It came back fine apart from high cholesterol and slightly high BP. Her diet is great and she is extremely active but perhaps needs to become out of breath during exercise more.
I think it was a warning about sugar content.

Hi
My Grandad has Diabetes and I know he cannot eat a lot of bananas due to the sugar, also my friend does weight watchers and apparently grapes are high points (which basically mean they are very sweet so higher in calories!!)
Maybe this is what they mean.. I love grapes and always think I am being good if I eat them (Obviously not!!) :)

Grapes do have a high sugar content when compared with other fruits, as do bananas. However, it is much better to get your calories from fruit than from other forms of sugars, such as honey or jam. The nutrients contained in fruit are essential for a healthy balanced diet and while reducing the amount of grapes and bananas might be a good idea, dropping them altogether seems rash and ill advised.
Banans are good for potassion, but from the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) point of view they are "Damp forming" foods. SO best avoided is you wnat to loose wetght. TCM doe snot tlak about "fat" but about "damp under the skin" :).

I knew about grapes having a lot of sugar, and to be avoided if you have candida, wasn't aware of bananas though, I have one with my cereal every day, I'll try and have a few less now and perhaps put a chopped apple with my cereal.
P.S If grapes are to be avoided with candida, how about raisins, or due to them being dried grapes, have less sugar?
Love and light

Rosi, I woudl sya that raisins have even more sugar (per weight). The water is out, but the sugar is left in.
