Question:
Hi Everyone
I am going through a low period with my Reiki at the moment, and wondered if anyone else had had the same thing.
I feel really inadequate when i am treating, my intuitave side has not developed as i hoped it would have and it seems to me people want to hear what is going on with them.
I know it dosent affect the level of healing they receive, but the people who i seem to attract want intuitave guidance as well as healing and they seem dissapointed if noting comes.
I am starting to dread treating people as i dont want to let them down. I dont want to give up on this as I did feel i was finally doing what I was born to do but just lately I dont hink I am good enough, and people deserve better.
I jnow all this negativity is not helping matters but cant seem to shake the way i feel. Any advise would be appreaciated.
Thanks
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
I know it's not quite the same as Reiki but I've been feeling 'off' with doing readings latley & as far as I know theres a few others feeling the same too.
Don't let this 'period' give you any self doubt...sometimes when we try to hard it only makes it harder;)
I know thats no help right now but I'm sure it will all right itself...perhaps you being told to give yourself some healing[sm=hug.gif]
I'm sure some reiki experts from hp will give you plenty of good advice
Love
Amy
Aw Jessica... it's not easy trying to match other peoples expectations - or your own! [sm=hug.gif] Please don't let this develop into a block for yourself, as you are a fine healer and you must continue to allow for the growth of your abilities.
It sounds as if you are putting way too much pressure on yourself to 'produce'. I have met many fine healers who pick up very little and some who prefer not to pass on anything they pick up. Patients do expect you to be a fount of all wisdom sometimes and I've often had to answer their questions with something like "You took in a good flow of energy and I didn't pick up anything unexpected." It is better to give a non-commital answer than try to invent or even worse, diagnose!
Might I suggest next time you say, "I don't work that way - I prefer to focus on the healing itself rather than speculate." Have confidence in the way you work and heal - there is nothing wrong with it.
Meanwhile, REIKI the situation! Think of yourself giving healing and surround that with healing light, to chase away any negativity.
Best of luck with your healing. Hold to your conviction that you are on the right path. Your job is not to salve their ego, but to balance their energy. Give me the sceptics any day! Much more fun! :D
Blessings
Moonfeather
Thanks guys,
Moonfeather - You are right I do try to match up to other peoples and my own expectations way to much and agree I should concentrate on the healing.
i like your line about focusing on the healing and not trying to speculate and know I will be using it in the future, who knows the more i relax about it all the more i will probably feel.
I must admit I am cautious about what I tell clients, as 1. I dont want to worry them when it may be nothing but 2. I dont want them to not get something checked because I reasure them everythings ok.
I always tell them to see their GP if they are at all worried about something but I do feel we have to be careful how we word things with clients.
Anyway thanks again to both of you for your replies, it feels better already just talking about it.
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
When I read your post I just wanted to send you a big Reiki hug[sm=hug.gif] I think everyone feels like you do sometime or other whatever their career. I'm not very experienced to offer you advice but you've been given some good suggestions already, especially to Reiki the situation, thats always worth doing!
You are unique and you work in the way that is best for you, don't compare yourself to others or try to meet their expectations, the Reiki you channel is the same as that channelled by anyone else and surely that is what clients come for and you deliver!
Jessica, Jessica, Jessica - a big hug for you! Been there, done that, have a line of t-shirts. However, that was a long time ago and my journey has been very enlightening and what it brought me back to was simplicity.
We all go through low periods - although they get shorter and shorter (seconds!) as we realise the more down we get the denser our vibrations become. First of all, it is always wisest to travel with expectancy (that something good will happen) rather than expectations. Expectations (of people, events, our own ability, etc.) will inevitably lead to disappointment. Dump the expectations and just go with the flow.
The feelings of being inadequate come only because you have expectations of yourself - and yet I wonder why. When giving Reiki all you have to do is make sure you are a clear channel and then just let it go. You are the jug - the cream pours out of the jug and some of the cream stays on the sides, so both recipeint and jug benefit from the cream. The only thing you have to do is stop filling the jug with needless bits and bobs - in orther words get yourself and your doubts out of the way - and let it flow. When you stop worrying (remember the Reiki Ideals??) and accept that the Reiki energy is for the highest good and will benefit the recipient in the way he/she/animal/plant/dinosaur(?) is willing to receive for their highest good, all is well. Non-attachment to the outcome is essential and when you step back from 'letting people down' you will then notice all the information coming to you which, at present, you may not recognise - even when it's there.
There are many ways to receive information - MANY - and your way is unique to you. You know, I'm sure, that yawning, coughing, crying, laughing, etc. etc. is a release of unwanted energy and is a sure sign a shift is taking place. You may feel the energy in the room 'lift', you may feel energy around you moving, you may feel all sorts of things, have all sorts of things pop into your head, 'know' that the source of the client's pain is nowhere near where the pain is and oh so many more ways to become accustomed to the way you are already working, if only you'd allow yourself to realise it.
Give yourself a break, Jessica. You're doing fine. You just don't realise it - so allow yourself to just 'be' and you'll be surprised at how much you pick up. And once you do this, you will stop attracting the sort of person who demands answers to the questions only they truly have the answers to. Subtle, but profound, changes take place with Reiki, so why not just ask them to notice any changes within themselves and report back. After all, all physical problems begin with spritual and emotional imbalances and Reiki will redress the balance - it isn't a quick fix, it changes lives for the better on all levels and is ongoing.
So chin up, shoulders back and go to it. You are wonderful just as you are and your doubts are unfounded. So there.

Angel quartz what a lovely post:)
Jessica love you know i bet there aren't many of us on here that haven't been where you are now;).. it's not the end of the world sweetheart for me I found it was a block within myself , Carry on with your self healing & you'll soon see the differance.. Like Angel quartzs say Give yourself a break .. I'm sure you're doing just fine. Actually You have been given such good advice that i really can't add to it . Only agtree with it & say come in Hunni keep talking to us & lets see if we can work this out;)
Reiki love hugs & blessings Maria xxx
I agree, Maria, there are some lovely posts in this thread. I want to ask Jessica if she has discussed this with her Reiki Master, and if so, what was the outcome?
Actually I think that's a very good Question Laura:).. .....Jessica?
Hugs Maria xxx
I can't really add any more to what has been said, except that I do sometimes feel doubt in my 'ability'. I love the analogy of the cream jug, Angelquartz, it put a smile on my face:D because it's so true!
The thing about expectations is also true. I do tell people that Reiki does not diagnose - it just does its stuff. People are so used to being diagnosed, to being prescribed that they find it hard to just experience and trust. I guess it's easier to have some hard 'evidence' to make a payment worthwhile. I remember receiving Reiki treatments where the practitioner did not explain anything at all which I did not like, as it left me with a sort of empty feeling. And I have received treatments when another practitioner explained a few things that were happening, things though, that I experienced during the treatment. I never expected her to know.
Hugs,

Hi Jessica ;)
I agree with these posts, as a teacher of Reiki I know we all have these doubts about our abilities from time to time but it is just our ego stuff coming up to be cleared so we can be more in tune with our inner wisdom.
We all go through peoriods of self-doubt and the people you attract will mirror your own fears or doubts. Look inside yourself and learn to trust that inner wisdom you have there.:D
Go with what you feel is right, people are always eager to have someone else tell them what is right for them instead of looking within themselves, it's not your responsibility to do that.
I really hope they don't put you off working with Reiki, sometimes it can be challenging but it does bring great rewards.
Trust your own instincts Jessica, and work in your own way.
Love and Reiki Westwolf xxx :D
Dear Jessica
This feels like a lack of trust so some good trust affirmations would be good for you.
It is lack of trust and judgement that blocks the third eye. So try not to judge the self and try out some affiirmations.
I trust myself
I trust Reiki
I trust the healing guides to guide me
I trust the angels to inspire me
I trust Dr Usui to show me the way
I trust all is perfectly arranged as it is meant to be
I also recommend complete surrender whilst doing the treatment, allow yourself to drift into a meditative state and allow the universe to work through you. Once you cease trying to control the treatment and the outcome, it allows spirit to do the work and you become an instrument for divine will and divine guidance.
God bless you and your work.
Feeling indequate is being triggered by the experience, it is triggering your inner child showing you what needs to be healed within you, I recommend a book by John Bradshaw called 'The Homecoming' if you feel you would like to heal the root cause of the core issue. Its good to track back during your life and establish all the other times you felt inadequate then you can move forward to heal all these situations, life conditions and old tapes of 'i'm not good enough' that are still running.
You can change anything when you have the will to do so.
Onwards and upwards
Love beyond measure

Hi Guys
Sorry I didnt see all these replies until today.
I seem to be through my moments of doubt. I realise now it was all part of the build up to my reiki Master attunement at the weekend just gone. I had been going through a huge period of adjustment both physically and mentally.
I had a period of being quite ill around the time of my original post which i now see was a detox, and realise i was beginning to question everything as part of my getting ready for the master level.
My Reiki Master attunement has provided a lot of answers for me and my faith and ability to let go and be a channel only for the Reiki energy has returned.
I have experienced some fantastic treatments since my attunment and am feeling totally at one with myself for the first time ever.
Thanks to everyone for the great advise and support you have given me.
Jessica
Great to hear you are At One now. :) Congratulations on your Master Attunement. :)
