Does Bowen cure a clicky jaw?
Question:

Hi guys
I need your expect advice.......:)
I have had a clicky jaw for 7/8 years now and it`s driving me crazy, I have had 2 treatment so far and it doesn`t feel any different... is this normal?
My jaw clicks on the right side and sometimes has a problem opening in the morning and constantly clicking through out the day.....:(
The therapist is working on the body and a couple of minutes on the neck and jaw...is that enough...? she has been qualified for a few months and not sure if she is experianced in this feild as i`m the first client with this problem.....not knocking her, as she`s very professional, but I don`t want to be flushing money down the drain if she`s not working on the right part!!! know what I mean?
Not sure what to do?
Thanks

Hi LX,
Working a few minutes, going out of the room, coming back, etc. That's very OK. The work on the jaw is only a few minutes.
Did the therapist tell you to to get up and walk evry 30 min. the day of treatment? Also getting of the couch with two feet on the ground at the same time?
If after the third treatment nothing ha schanged, then review the strategy with her.
Let us know how you get on,
Artemis

Yes, she has done all of what you said...walk, both feet off the couch at the same time...
I will talk to her about it... and will let you know..
Thanks

I have worked with several people with clicky jaws, although that wasn the main issue for tehir treatments, but they certainly had changes, and one lady, it has gone completely after years of clicking! It isnt always a matter of working o the point of pain/discomfort, as the source or trigger could be in another part of the body - for example, the ankle could be affecting the jaw!

Hi
To be honest I haven`t been back since....but I have a new therapist in mind as I already know here thorugh a course she teaches..... so I think I will give her a go.... yes I have heard that different parts of your body, eg. ankle etc can cure something in your neck!! so to speak....
Still have a clicky jaw tho...:(

also another factor why I haven`t done anything about it, is because it`s sooooo darn expensive![&:]
Oh well, when i win the lotto!! :)

Hi Lindsay,
would you mind me asking what you call very expensive?
also, please try not to use the word cure - we therapists arent allowed to cure......................
Good luck,

£30.00 an hour, but if you have 3 or 4 of them that`s £120.00....

The good thing about Bowen is that as it is your body that isrealigning and healing itself, it is likely that if you get a 'good response' to it, it will last a long time, so in the long run the amount of money you are paying out may not be as much as if you are receiving regular treatments that make you feel good for a while but you need to go back for more. That was a long sentence, sorry.
But as in all these situations, different therapies 'feel' right for different people. Always balance the question of money against how much you value your health and how much your clicky jaw is interferring with your life.
Please let us know if your other therapy choice is working for you - what is it?

hello - just re-read the bit I wrote about valuing (spelling?) your health - didn't mean it to sound quite as icky as that. Sorry.
