Question:
Hello,
My 4 year old was awake last night with earache, it's happened before, it's quite distressing and he just crys in pain and can't sleep.
I wondered if there was any homeopathic remedy that could be used when this happens.
I'm not sure why he had this last night, he might have caught a bit of wind from being outside the other day, but it's quite mild weather at the moment so not sure.
Any help appreciated!
Many thanks,
Silverdawn.
I'm sure someone else will be able to give you an answer about homeopathic remedies for earache, but a couple of sessions of Ear Cnadling should help.

Pour a tiny bit of warm almond oil into the ear with a teaspoon and pop some cotton wool in to keep it from running out. Tricky to do with a little one but perhaps you can explain it's 'mummy magic' or something.
When I was a kid, my mum used to produce a small muslin bag of warm salt which, when held against the offending ear, also worked very well. I don't know how she warmed it but possibly in the oven, since microwaves weren't invented then...;)

Mix three or four of drops of tee tree oil with a teaspoon of olive oil and gently apply to the ear with some cotton wool. Leave the cotton wool in the ear and this will allow the oil to penetrate. Hope he gets better soon.

I just had to say that I was told by my mother that she had to go to the doctors cos her ears were getting so bad and the doctor sent her to the hospital. They had to remove bits of cotton wool from inside her ear that had got trapped because bits of fibre had worked their way into the ear.
The doctor told her that if it had been left any longer she could have ended up deaf in that ear as it would have worked its way in too deeply to get it out. He said that cotton wool and cotton buds were the worst thing ever invented because they can do alot of damage because the fibres break away and work their way into the inner ear.
So, please be very careful with it.

Pulsatilla is the queen of remedies for childhood ear infections, also for any stage where they are whiney and clingy. Pulsatilla 6c or 30c is available from boots. ignore the instructions to take 2 pills, it's not how many you take but how often. when the pain is severe, put 1 tab under his tongue every 20 mins for 6 doses then wait and see if there is any change. if not, repeat but only every 2 hours. as soon as there is a change, stop, as the remedy is working. if he won't let you put the tab in his mouth, crush it up with a little boiled water and add to a normal drink of water and let him sip it. this is a wonderful remedy and will work.
Thanks everyone, that's really helpful :)

My 6 year old has had this twice in 18 months, something going round school. I have put in earex and it seems to work very quick.
