Question:
Reiki the same principles a different perspective.
With our limited knowledge and understanding, we assume that what we do now, we have always done and what we accept as truth, has always been so.
We take comfort from this fact yet this concept is unsound and untrue.
The only certainty in this life is uncertainty the only constant is change.
We set great store by the institutions that provide structure to our lives. Science and religion provide the perimeters of fact and faith and if ever we do think about these pillars of society we assume that they are definitive and absolute. Nothing could be further from the truth, science is not a science with it’s principles chiseled in stone, they are fluid and ever changing. Our history has seen people murdered and tortured for holding the beliefs that we accept as truth today. Scientific advances are never readily accepted, they are always rejected, regulated and ridicules until the evidence is overwhelming, at which point the dissidents accept the “new truths” claiming them as their own.
Religion fares no better, the Bible we read today bares little resemblance to the scriptures prior to and from the time of Christ. Men, not God decided centuries ago what we would read today, Kings, Popes and politicians have decided over the years what our religious beliefs should be. The scriptures that form the basis of our faith have been doctored, edited and in some cases destroyed in order that a selective few could determine what would be in our best interest to believe.
In reality there are no new truths, only old ones that have been rediscovered.
All knowledge and understanding is a continuum, it is ever changing and developing, all wisdom and truth are complete and absolute, it’s our awareness of these principles that is slowly evolving. “New” knowledge is not at the expense of what has gone before, instead it builds on the foundations already laid.
So it is with Reiki, it’s history and legend are well documented, it’s credentials established by it’s own success, all those who practice Reiki know it’s value and worth and are respectful of it’s heritage and traditions. As more and more masters are trained, increased knowledge and greater understanding are becoming more available. Information and expertise that was once considered secret is now being made more available to masters in the West and with this sharing comes a better understanding of our heritage and the true potential that Reiki has to heal.
We are now being asked to change our perspective about Reiki and expand what we already know. We stop learning the moment we believe we know all there is to know.
When we begin to learn about Reiki we accept it’s history, it’s principles, it’s aims and objectives and while accepting that we all develop within Reiki in our own way, a way that meets our own individual needs, this development is incorporated within the three levels of Reiki, we then find that there are further levels of expertise beyond the level of master and where the very principles of Reiki change drastically.
In music we are taught the scales before moving onto more complex structures that form the basis of music. In martial arts we learn the techniques in order to become instinctive and formless and then we are told to forget them. In Reiki we are taught the three levels of Reiki, the symbols and the aim of non diagnosis only to find as we move beyond the level of Master that the levels become less important, the symbols unnecessary and the aim of Reiki at this level is to diagnose by just looking at the recipient and be able to heal by using the mind, the eyes, the breath and the hands. These new concepts don’t in any way detract from the original principles, they are merely an extension to them, rather than contradict, they elaborate on what is already known and take the theory and practice to a much higher level.
We move from mechanics to mind, from actions to intent, by thinking it we know it is so, we no longer require symbols to send healing
Phillip, I am deeply moved by your posting. You have said it all succinctly. Reiki is constantly evolving. We find that when we open the door and become accustomed to what is within, we find another door and the process begins again. Some never look for another door but are content to stay within the confines of the first room - and that is all right. Others choose to open the other door and pass thro - that, too, is all right.
On a personal level, I have a lot of Faith but have no time at all for Religion.
Thank you for this message.

So how does one develop this knowledge, this instinctual understanding? Does it come to those who work with Reiki constantly, or is it linked more to spiritual growth and understanding? How does one read the vibrational field, for instance?
Very true - in all fields of endevour.
Blessings

Dear Glenys, firstly let me apologise for the delay in replying to your comments and thank you for taking the time to read the work and your kind words. Im pleased you enjoyed the piece and I hope you enjoy some of my other work just as much. If you get chance to read any others please let me have some feed back as its important to me for my own development.
Best Wishes Phillip.
Dear Moonfeather, I have found that this ability develops the more you use Reiki. It develops in different ways with different people, there can't be just one way as we are all individuals and Reiki is about healing through personal development and self knowledge. Each person interpretates this energy in a way that is relevent to them, we all receive this information, the same information but its how we interpretate it that allows us to help the recipient of Reiki. Hope this has been of some help, best wishes Phillip.
