Question:
wondering if any of you beauty therpists out there could help me?
i would like to take some courses in beauty therapy, but how and where can i do this? the thing is i work full time so would like something in the evenings/weekends (evenings would be my first option). can any one help? or suggest anything?
im thinking about taking a part time course in man and ped in september. but thats only one part of beauty that i would like to do, along with waxing, facials etc.
by doing a home study course i wont be able to get insured will i???
Local education colleges should have plenty of courses but they get booked out fast. You may need to look at several colleges in your area.
There are some private colleges around which are very good.
Get feedback from forums before booking places. Also try and get info on tutor from the college and then feedback from previous students. They may have a job teaching but they may not be any good. That happened to me at one college and it provided a nightmare year.
Do do a reasonable length course because although there are one or two day courses you will not get to cover the range of situations. Most of these things require a great deal of practise - learing the theory isn't too difficult - and you need decent supervised practise which can't be given in a day. Plus they don't all tell you about the reasons why you shouldn't wax/manicure a particular client.
Also check that the course you do is a recognised qualification eg cibtac, nvq2, itec, etc. You can do courses and then find out that you aren't insured.
Hi
I have been to the Carlton Institute in Windsor, and they offer alot of courses there, mostly NVQ etc...they are a few days long but I think you have to do case studies to get your qualifications....
Try it, as it`s not far away from Wiltshire...
Good luck

You could do a NVQ 2 or 3 via online teaching - see www.connect2beauty.co.uk
All the theory work is done via online tutorials and submitted by email. You attend workshops to learn the practicals - and you can choose when to go to these.
It is approved by BABTAC and EDEXCEL.
Hi Lindsay,
I am interesting in doing NVQ 2 and NVQ3 in beauty therapy did you do both of them at Carlton Institute they are very expensive are they good and did you get the NVQ Certificate? I would like to train with them but I am very about the qualification.

Hi Lily
No I went to college for a few years for Beauty Therapy level 2 and 3 and also level 2 in Hairdressing.
I`ve only don`t a few courses at the Carlton, Body Wrapping and currently studying an IIHHT in Reflex at the moment.
Yes they are expensive, and alot of the time if you look on their website they have special deals, so keep your eyes peeled..:D
Hope this helps
