I am wondering about this oil actually a resin called Agarwood. I found it by accident one day and I have never heard of it before. I found it at 2 websites: www.osaga.cn and www.enfleurage.com. One seems to be the actual producer and the other a retailer. I am just wondering if I should buy some and try it...has anyone tried it ever? It sounds fascinating and it is apparently very rare and precious, so that may be the reason I've never heard of it before. Anyway, I sent the producer an e-mail to enquire about it since there is no payment options on the website. If I decide to get some, I'll post again with my comments....cheers~
Okay how about Neroli. It has to one of my favourite oils and always has great results for me and my clients.
It is also special to me because I used it when my Dad was in hospital dying of cancer. I don't really know why I chose to use it, it was instinctive: but then it turned out that it is an oil that calls out to angels. One of the last things my dad said to my mum was "the angels are coming, I can feel them in my stomach". My dad was not a religious man and this was definitely a bizarre statement for him to make, but it gave me much comfort and hope. When he died the following morning I felt both he and I were at peace because I knew he had been looked after on his new journey.
Iam tying to learn the 42 oils for ITEC and finding them very hard, all the bits you need to know, and also doing the case studies i have found that he only one to work is eucap., as it brings the colds out quicker, otherwise, as of yet not found they work, maybe i am doing something wrong, but how did every one learn, this is a great idea, keep it up
Sweet marjoram is one that I find to invaluable. Its excellent in massage for muscular aches and pains, spasms, arthritis and related problems and brings instant relief. I have been treating a client with chronic upper back pain very successfully with this in a synergistic blend with roman chamomile and lavender.
It is also good massaged into abdominal area for digestive problems and intestinal cramps.
Also a powerful relaxant, excellent for insomniacs, a few drops in a warm bath before bed and/or burn in vaporiser in bedroom before retiring. Can be blended with clary sage for a stronger effect.
Blends well with bergamot, clary sage, roman chamomile, lavender, rosemary, citrus oils, cedar wood. But I also use my oils instinctively.
Go with your instincts.:)
Lets talk about NEROLI then.......Angelfish your story of its use with your Dad was wonderful and really moved me.xx
Citrus aurantium....mainly monoterpines i think......with i think a deep calming smell rather bitter in odour like the outside of the orange...not sharp...... Neroli is not an oil i use an awful lot and have tended to use it to calm "hyper stressed" pregnant women. works well for this..........anyone else??
I treated a lady in the past with neroli in a cream as a post reflexology massage. She was training to be a councellor and it was the only oil she really took to. Very calming after some very stressful training sessions for her.
yes janec I find it works well for stress and depression, good for workaholics too. I have used Valerie Worwoods workaholic massage formula with excellent results. Neroli, lavender, geranium and lemon blend. The oils have stimulating and relaxant properties, and i just love the aroma of the blend.
Also good for dry, ageing skin and broken capillaries and wrinkles. I use it in a face blend:with a base of calendula plus cedarwood and lavender
I too use it in a face blend for sensitive/dry skin with Sandalwood, it smells absolutely gorgeous and is very gentle with no sting factor. Normally I blend it with peach kernal and jojoba.
i do that too, i dont look at the properties until after....
if i look at properties first and then choose oils i always end up with blends that smell disgusting!!!!!
em.x.
i am loving grapefruit at the moment it is just so fruity and zingy just what you need to wake up! or should i say what i need!!
i'm also loving sandalwood at the moment too
went to the chelsea phsyic garden yesterday and the aromatherapy and pharmaceutical sections were so interesting it was like charlie and the chocolate factory but with plants!!
I think neroli is my very favourite oil. I make a skin cream with rose and neroli, adding avocado and evening primrose oils - divine.
I've also been using neroli with howood a lot since my father in law died and my mother became ill - very calming. I blend it with ylang ylang and clary sage to help me sleep at night also.
