Question:
Hi everyone
I have just been buying a facial steamer from Argos and I was wondering, if it would be okay to add a couple of drops of essential oils to the water.
Has anyone ever tried this, if so what oils would you recommend and in what quantity.

Angel, without seeing one, I wouldn't know how it works, but I would be very careful coz you could end up ruining it. Basically if there are any holes in it - and presumably there are if steam comes out of it - then the oil will block them up. Even if not, if say, it is just a bowl of water, I think you will still spoil it. The oils really can do a lot of damage. I put a bottle of neroli on top of the telly a little while ago (it was a new, big flat screen telly - you know what's coming don't you?!) and a drop of the oil dribbled down the bottle and ATE into the TELLY!!!!! Bloomin eck, I had to cover that up quick I can tell you - after I used all my strength to yank it off! ;)
What you could do is put some oils in a base and then put that on your skin after you steam and they will sink in nicely.......:)
Hi Candi
In the steamer, you pour a small amount of water into the little bowl at the bottom, the bowl heats up, but the bowl is made of metal and I am not sure how the oils will react to that.
Actually, I think I will return the Steamer back to Argos and stick with my head over a bowl of water. Sounds much safer.
Thanks for the advice sweetie.

Hi Angel
You asked which oils to add to steam
What skin type are you??
Normal, Dry, combination, oily,???
The one thing I have learn't (the hard way) When adding oils to a bowl of steam is to let the water cool for a minute or too. Did it once, full steam on, nearly took the hairs from the back of my throat..lol...I'm laughing but it wasn't funny at the time.

Hi Sharon
Sounds very nasty hun.
I have combination skin, but I get lots of spots on my chin area.
