Question:
Hi everyone,
I wonder if you can help me to understand something that happened this week.[sm=scratchchin.gif]
My Dad had been sufering from a cough that prevented him from sleeping at night for a number of months, so when I took Reiki 1 in January I treated him and was delighted when the cough stopped.
This week, the cough came back so he went to the Drs who sent him for an xray. I treated him over 2 days, the first night was "much better" and the by the second the cough had gone away again- isn't Reiki fab?!:D
However, when I saw him he said he was glad the cough had gone but now he wouldn't have anything to show to the Dr when he went back.
That night I sent him another distant healing during which my hands got very hot, so I really thought something good was happening. That night, the cough returned with a vengence!
I know that Reiki works for a person's highest and greatest good and I was wondering whether it was in his best interests to obtain medical treatment for this so it came back?
I know time will tell whether it needs medical intervention but I was a little disappointed when the Reiki seemed, from my point of view, not to have worked.
What do you guys think?
Dear Floffle,
I am not sure that teh cough returning had anything to do with Reiki. I think it had to do with your dad not wanting it to go! What is the problem showing the Dr that you have recovered? I fyour dad had soemthing more serious that the cough tha tneed medical treatment, the Xray would have shown it anyway I think.
Love,
Artemis
Hi Floffle
I agree with Artemis, if you set your intention to give someone what they wish to receive then watch out as they might want something you would not wish to give them ;-)
Thanks Guys,
what you say makes a lot of sense!
dear floffe
I never ever ask for the highest and greatest good because the soul IS eternal and this request effects that and the life force can intelligently provide a soul journey that we would not consider good for this one lifetime although beneficial for the purification of the eternal soul.
So I ask for perfect health here and now! Be very specific in your requests and be careful what you wish for!
Very important to be VERY specific.

Dear Kim,
Thanks for your post.
I did not make up the phrase greatest and highest good, but I was told by my RM that Reiki works for the recipients greatest and highest good anyay.
I have just checked in Penelope Quest's Reiki for Life book and for self treatment for example, she says "intend that the Reiki flows into you for your highest and greatest good". Im sure she and others I have read mention it a lot and I thought that was just what Reiki did!
I would have thought ( although of course I don't know) that greatest and highest good would only apply to this life as I'm sure that we do not address all our karma in one lifetime only what we can cope with.
You mention asking for perfect health. I thought that as Reiki works on areas other than health that asking for the greatest and highest good of the person can bring benefits in other areas too. This again is something that my RM told me, and she illustrated it with some stories from her own experiences.
I'd be interested to read what you think,:)
Yes Reiki Masters do teach this because this has been handed down from their RM's and most do not have experience of working with multi-dimensional therapies eg soul retrieval and past life healing work.
Let me give you an analogy:
Your girlfriend asks the universe for a new man, the universe sends her a new man, she then complains and says 'He doesn't have any hair!"
The moral of the story the universe will manifest what you wish for,
so be EXACT, WITH CLARITY and the results will be stunning!
Well you do not have to ask for perfect health and you can ask for anything, so the secret of true manifestation is to be VERY SPECIFIC !
Another analogy we have spent years praying for peace, this has been shown to me as a band aid solution, yes it has helped, yes it has helped to invoke the heavenly forces and raise the vibration of the planet but yet if we use direct conscious intent it is more powerful then prayer when it us much more specific. Prayer is invoking external energies conscious intent is putting the power of the universe here and now on command for a specific reason. Hence we become co-creators instead of passive participants.
The Humanity needs YOU now! thread in the spiritual forum explains all of this in more detail.

Dear Kim
As an amusing aside, a friend of mine did all the manifesting in the world for a new man to her "recipe", and got many potential new men. However, she forgot one thing: To ask that he should not already be married to someone else! :D
In all seriousness, however , and with the greatest of respect, I feel that much of this has nothing whatsoever to do with Reiki, and that many people who read this particular forum may well not be "working with multi-dimensional therapies eg soul retrieval and past life healing work" although doing much good work with Reiki in their own way.
I would hate to think that any Reiki person would feel in any way inferior through not doing things "your way".
I also think that rather than commanding Reiki to work in the way we think we want it to, or it "should", that we simply allow people to be themselves, and Reiki to work in its own special way, both through them, and for them and those they treat.

You are correct
I only mentioned these therapies because that is how I learnt the way the universe works, and it was through doing this work that brought me personally to the conclusion that one has to be very specific with one's intent. Others that I have shared globally with also agree it makes perfect common sense. One does not go into a shop and just buy a kettle one looks for a specific brand that will do the job and it is the same with Reiki the more specific one is the more powerful and the happier the results are in our experience.
You said " I would hate to think that any Reiki person would feel in any way inferior through not doing things "your way"."
That is not my intent; but if anyone feels inferior then they can use Reiki to heal that feeling of inferiority, due to the fact that once one is truly whole and healed one does not experience any negative emotions about anything. And that after all is what self mastery is all about.
So this an excellent example so thank you for sharing. This is not "my way" this is a method that many healers from many modalities now use, we first started talking about conscious intent in the mid 90's and I advised colleagues that people were just not ready for it, we can even intent flower essences in to water and bless waters with conscious intent and heal oceans.
This concept is now also backed up by the latest in new science and cellular biology. So I am sharing my experience with the pure intent of helping others to manifest superb work, it is up to others to decide whether they choose it! But there is a testimonial of a miracle somewhere on this forum of using this method.
"I also think that rather than commanding Reiki to work in the way we think we want it to, or it "should", that we simply allow people to be themselves, and Reiki to work in its own special way, both through them, and for them and those they treat."
Yes I agree so one does not need to say for the highest good then do they?
We are also being shown this month that it is time to accept that we are co-creators and to take responsibility for what we manifest and how we direct divine energy. This is another opportunity for us to share how we can co-create with the Reiki love vibration. We are not separate from divine energy we are ONE and part of natural universal law this is the next stage for all healers to accept, when they are ready to be open to its limitless potential.

Hi Kim
I think you summed it up in the final part of your last posting but not everyone is ready for this and many are not happy to get into the driving seat and realise their true potential and that is fine.
There have always been passive and active healers regardless of the modality used but diversity is a part of our growth and so is choice.
I have always channelled healing energy actively but accept those who do not feel comfortable with this concept and prefer to ignore the fact that their higher self is doing most of the work :-)
Yes it is good to share information and insight but everyone has a divine right to chose what is right or wrong for them to accept in their own reality and how they wish to employ that knowledge if at all on their journeys.
Dear Paul
Yes I agree you are addressing the converted!
But yet we all have a window of opportunity this month to choose what we co-create next with our conscious intent, I hope you will join us on the 28th October to shift group consciousness assisting others to take their power back and take responsibility for being co-creators with the universe.

Hi everyone, [sm=wave.gif]
I have also learnt that the way the universe works is as you describe and that you need to be specific in what you ask for. Now I think about it I don't see why this shouldn't apply to Reiki, after all it is part of the universe.
What suprised me was that you said it does apply to Reiki when everywhere else says it doesn't. I read on HP quite regularly that Reiki has its own intelligence and goes to where it is needed so I asume that it can be either directed or undirected?
I was taught at R2 attunement to send Reiki to situations so does this mean that I can theoretically ask for the outcome that I would like to see?
What about how it affects other people?
I assume I would be better asking that the situation be resolved in the best interests of everyone involved as I wouldn't always be aware of how other people are feeling or how they view that situation and I wouldn't want to interfere in their lives in a way that may have a negative conclusion for them.
Sorry if I've got a bit wordy there but this is a new idea for me and I'm trying to get my head round it! [sm=scratchchin.gif]
