New to Reiki Treatments
Question:

I recently had my first Reiki treatment and it felt lovely and relaxing at the time. I was having a particulary good day when I had the treatment and actually felt on top of the world. The treatment was fine and I felt lots of heat in certain places which I was told could happen. I felt very tired after which I was also told could happen and then after that I had a really strange couple of weeks - nothing was going right at all. I broke out in really bad spots too.
I have been keen to get into Reiki but this has made me a bit worried to go again as I am not sure why I felt so strange for ages. Is this normal?

Answers:

As normal as any response to Reiki is, Vixter.
The important thing is NOT to worry. Perhaps the spots were a physical manifestation of some deep matter within yourself that the Reiki stirred-up.
I must admit that for your reaction to last for two weeks is a bit long but some people allege that their reactions have taken several months. In my experience, a reaction (if any) to Reiki has lasted for no longer than about a week.
Might I suggest that you have another treatment and see if anything happens - it might not.

Answers:

May I also suggest drinking plenty of water, which is always advisable but perhaps especially now if any toxins have been stirred up.

Dear Vixster
A healing reaction to Reiki or other treatments is not uncommon and it can feel as though you're having a clear-out on a mental, emotional or physical level. Hopefully you will look back and feel that these reactions happened for the best and have got rid of some 'bad stuff' (sorry for the metaphor but it can feel a bit like emptying your bin almost). A favourite saying of mine is 'better out than in' and I think it definitely applies in this case. I hope it hasn't put you off Reiki in any way, because it is a marvellous thing.

haha- that's nothing compared to taking a reiki 1 course [sm=rollaugh.gif]
No, only joking, it really does vary from person to person, and even one session to the next. You could go to another treatment and have a completely different experience. I can only reinforce what everyone else has said, and wish you the best of luck with your further treatments:D

Hi Vixster,
Reiki affects people in many different ways, some experience extremely heightened emotions or physical manifestations that take them by surprise. Whilst for some there are no obvious reactions at all. As the others have already said this is a positive outcome and is your way of releasing anything that no longer serves you.
In my experience it is better in these situations to have a block of sessions at regular intervals. I would definitely ring your reiki practitioner to discuss your feelings too.
Just a thought but did you drink any alcohol or strong coffee in the hours immediately following treatment as this can cause the type of symptoms you describe. You probably were informed though to avoid alcohol, heavy meals, stimulants etc for at least 24 hours and to drink plenty of water.
As Paul says the best advice is not to worry and just move forward.[sm=rollaugh.gif]
Hope that his helps in some small way, and let us know how you go.
Love and Light
