Question:
I have a client who has a straightforward labour 5 days ago. She wants an aroma massage as her lower back and neck are painful. She isn't breastfeeding and did not have an epidural. Is it ok to do the treatment as I remember reading somewhere you should wait until 2 weeks after the birth before having a treatment but I can't find where I read it?
having worked for the NHS, i personnally would not treat anyone till their 6 week check up with their health vistior, as the body is still healing, i would use the oils that you want as an inhalation, but personally any 'massgeing' i would wait until they have the all clear after their 6 week check, just in case their is any underlining problems - hope that this has helped. - just remember that they are not advised to do anything 'streneous' for the first 6 weeks, and are advised to take it easy.
I would definitely agree with Chid on this one. It's not necessarily the essential oils that are the contra-indication (providing she is not breast feeding), but the massage.
