Hypnotherapy/Healing?!?!?!?
Question:

Stephen Lewis Healing at MBS Exhibition? (the stand where everyone looked asleep!)
Hi
Not sure where to put this, so if not here then please move this.
Did anyone see this healer at work at the mind body and soul exhibition? It was the stand that had about 8 visitors in all sitting in chairs looking like they were asleep.
My friend and I were amazed, and never having had anything like this done before had a go. I had to take my shoes of, and rest my hands on my lap, the then asked me to close my eyes, breath in and out and he toughed the top of my chest, under my chin. I was not asleep, I could open my eyes if I decided that I wanted to (I didn’t want to though) and could hear everything going on around me but just felt very calm and relaxed - like I was asleep, I think my head even tilted to the side like I was sleeping. I was there 20 mins, but it felt like 5 or 10.
I find it very hard to relax and switch of normally, so don’t know how he made me do it in a crowded room.
How did he do it?
Did anyone else have a go? How did you feel?
My friend said that he saw different coloured lights and also kept on hearing his mum talking to him. So we both had different experiences.

Hi JoGirl,
You have described being hypnotised to a T.
Different people have different experiences with hypnosis, and most look asleep too. Some people open their eyes and move about (like me) but are just as hypnotised as most of the rest.
Not knowing anything else about Stephen Lewis, I can't comment on the healing aspect. However, you seem to have had fun and everyone by the sounds of it was happy, so that's great!

The thing is that he told us that it was not being hypnotised, and he did not spend a great deal of time with me before, just said aboit 4 or 5 sentences and then put his hand on my chest.
Nothing like "look deep into my eyes!" or any pendulum swinging?!?!

OK, here's one aspect.
In Hypnosis, anything that presupposes trance, causes trance! Because in order to process the meaning of any statement about trance or hypnosis, you have to create an internal representation of trance! And that includes negative statements too (This post is not about a blue tree behind a house but I'll bet you can see one right now!)
So even saying that it wasn't HYPNOSIS will tend to make you more receptive!! Plus, you could see the other people in the same state so you're expecting that whatever he does may well have the same effect on you.
Plus, no doubt there were lots of other sneaky language patterns that he used to help you find a nice trancy state.
The pendulum swinging / look deep into my eyes stuff is used very little these days. Even direct trance inducing instructions - "you are feeling sleepy" - is best used for people who respect authority and are used to taking orders i.e. not very many of us these days;)
Hope this helps.
All the best
Jonathan
