Question:
Hi Everyone,
Bit of advise needed. I seem to be being asked the same question after every reiki treatment, and that is when should they come back for their next treatment?
I find it hard to tell people when they should come back as i feel everyone is different and they should see how they feel after the treatment is settled, and tend to tell people they will know when the time is right.
However this is happening more and more frequently and it seems as though people want to be told when to come back.
Just wondered how other people handle this question.
many thanks
Jessica
one way is to say to them, see how you feel over the next 3 days and then give me a call, if you feel you need more treatment then we will do more

The difficulty is for them to remember to phone you after 3 days.
Suggest to them that the next treatment might be in a week's time - rebook them then and there and, when they come again re-evaluate and see if they wish to continue wekkly treatments or change to fortnightly or even monthly.
So much depends on how they feel and the economics (if they can afford the regular treatments).
Best of luck.
The first tiem I was asked this question, I was taken by surprise. "it'snot up to me to tell people when/if to have treatments"... The someone pointed out to me that when you go and see your doctor, the doctor tells you when and if to come back. If the client ssees as as with the same status as a doctor then we are the professional who should "know".
Now my answer to this sort of question is a sugestion to rebook for the next week.

I agree, I tend to ask my clients to book a minimum of 3 visits (including the consultation) so we have something to compare the VAS form scores. On the 3rd visit we then decide if they need any more/weekly/monthly/as and when etc. As already said, everyone reacts differently to Reiki and have to think about the cost. Happily, quite a few only needed the 3 visits for their particular problem so I'm happy to go along this route.

I think reikiangel's got a good, sensible plan there:D It also takes the 'pressure' off someone to feel they should know when to come back.
Hi
Thanks everyone for your replies you have been a big help.
I guess I felt bad telling them to come back, as I felt It would look like i was only after more business, this would not be the case as I would rather people got better straight away and did not need further visits.
But unfortunatly as we all know this is not the norm and more than one treatment is normally needed.
Reikiangel What do you mean by VAS form score ?
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
I have always kept records for clients (even before I became a business) because it helps you to be more professional in your approach. VAS stands for Visual Analogue Scale, 1-10 scores where 10 is the worst possible and 1 means all symptoms gone.
At the consultation I ask "on a 1 - 10 scale how bad has that felt for you" and the client will give me a number. I then ask "at this moment how does it feel for you" and again they will give me a number. We then have the Reiki session and once they are fully 'back' I will ask them how they feel now. 90% of the time the score has come down at least one or two points. Because Reiki can work in such a subtle way people are not always aware that something has happened, by keeping the scores they (and I) can see that the condition is lessening. People always rememeber being in pain but forget the degree of pain they felt. So, with the form they may still say to me that they are in pain but I can show them the scores are coming down and they realise that the pain is less intense than it was when they first started coming. So, by asking for 3 sessions I have something to compare the first with the third and the client can see that a shift is happening!
Hope that made sense!
