Hiatus Hernia and EFT?
Question:

Anyone tried working with EFT with Hiatus Hernia?
I have a client who came for a first session but after 1.5 hrs of tapping didn't really improve. It's not to say he will not feel the benefits in the future, but for now is disappointed and I was wondering if there was anybody who did have success with it. I suspect part of the problems is that he thinks very much in medical terms and does not want to admit to himself that it's emotional. he knows it gets worse with stress and it started when his whole life was falling apart, but something is preventing him from understanding it emotionally. We tapped on that but he doesn't believe it. I looked at the pay-offs from having the problem and they are huge: avoiding relationships and disapointments (or anything that may cause pain - for fear of symptoms getting worse), getting stuck with career, avoiding emotional pain etc.. we tapped on it too, but he thinks the problem needs to be corrected by jumping up and down (!) or surgery.
I know what you're going to ask, what was he doing in my treatment room? well he wanted to try anything before he goes the medical route.
What do you folks think about clients like that?

interesting
i personally would ask him to keep on tapping for at least 3 days and to report back to me
remember we can only facilitate healing, the rest is up to the client

thanks, I don't know if he will ever come want to do tapping again, he booked in for Biodynamic massage next week, which is a form of energy therapy as well.
You see, I know what you mean about only facilitating the healing but I get such good results with other people, that it hurts to see someone else wasting their time and energy, and not getting help. The potential for healing is there, and I can see him getting better slowly and it's painful for me not to be able to help. Wasted opportunity...
OK, off to tap on myself, my Healer Syndrome is kicking in...
Even though it's difficult to accept you can't help everybody....

I agree. I have not had a client with this condition, but would do as Dez says, see him again in a few days to find out how he got on with the homework he should have been doing.

I've had great success with a client for Hiatus Hernia :)
I LOVE clients who don't want to do homework! I just say they can do their homework or come and pay me more and give them the choice.
Was your client in pain? What kind of Hiatus Hernia does he have? Did you try tapping on recent everyday situations that made him feel worse, such as a rude shop assistant, being cut up in traffic, not having a call returned, etc?. If he wants to jump up and down, I would also tap on "Even though I need to jump up and down..."
You can also mix the Biodynamic Massage with EFT...
I hope this helps [&:]

Thank you for your replies. It makes sense to tell them to be persistent, however not everyone has enough faith in the process to do it.
Suzanne, did your client's symptoms disappear completely?
I would interested to know the if it's possible for the hernia to go into remission as they nicely put it at the doctor's. I really want to help this guy, he is only 30 and suffered with it for a few years already, with the effect that his life is on hold.
