Hi Lisa, I often thank God that I was introduced to Reiki when it was only Usui Shiki Ryoho and William Rand et al had yet to become better known across here... :) There are SO many forms of Reiki around now... argh!
Personally, I would say traditional Reiki is best because it is the most straightforward and simple. I prefer things simple, especially healing.
However... go with the form/system which draws you to it. Just as you trusted your intuition with the master you talked about in your other thread, trust it with Reiki. All forms hold healing for you. All connections to Universal energy are valid.
There are many books available which detail the different systems, and many people here who can tell you more. Take a look at old threads - lots of helpful info and advice there. Then follow your heart. Put the intent out there and the right one will appear for you.
Good healing on your Reiki path...

Hi Dotty,
With about 142 different disciplines of Reiki, no wonder you're confused! Reiki was discovered/re-discovered by Mikao Usui, so the closer you get to Usui's teachings, the more like Reiki it should be, hence the idea that Usui Reiki is closest to the real thing. Having said that, I have met a few Usui Reiki healers that I can't honestly say follow Usui's way (OK,stepping off my soapbox now). So, take your time and choose a Reiki Master you feel comfortable with and it will happen for you :)

I don't think there is many Westerners if any who follow the real way of Usui... Reiki has come to the western world already in a much different from than Usui taught it to his students...
The orriginal teaching of Usui was not even called Reiki...
So I wouldn't worry about all the different styles of Reiki at all, because it seems change/evolution is the nature of Reiki...
Just find a teacher who you feel comfortable with and enjoy...
