Question:
I would love some opinions on something that has bothered me for a while..
Obviously i believe that while i am thinking of someone while sending them Reiki, the energy is with them, but i'm having a hard time believing that the energy stays with them once your attention stops.
I just cannot understand how that as soon as you stop thinking of that person and continue to do other things, that it stays with them for say..24 hours that you have maybe intended for it to do.

Once you have send the person the Reiki, they have already received it, you don't have to keep on sending Reiki for them to still have it...
It is like giving someone an object... You do not have to keep your hand on that object for the rest of its existence in order for the person you gave it to, to receive it... Once you have handed over the object, the recipient has received it and it then belongs to them...
When you send distance Reiki to the person, they receive it, and the Reiki will do the rest...
Does that make sense?
I couldn't have put it better, Amber.[:@]

That has puzzled me too.
If you can send Reiki to someone and intend for it to flow to them for as long as they need it, or set a time as mentioned above for 24 hours, then forget about it, then why would you bother sending a full distant healing to someone when you are spending an hour doing something that need only take you a fraction of that time? Why, indeed?! Does this mean that someone might visualise doing a full hands-on treatment while sending? I can't think of any other reason. For me it usually takes as long as it takes, that is until my intuition tells me to stop or, if I'm using a pendulum, when it stops swinging.
Distant healing and intent were earlier discussed in this thread (I know you were a part of that discussion too, but it may be of interest to newer readers):

Distant healing can take as long as you wish. If you CAN spend an hour sending healing to a particular person or situation then that is your choice.
Personally I only spend between 5 and 15 minutes sending distant healing - whether to an individual or to many people. It is so easy to write all of their names on a piece of paper and send Reiki to them through the paper list. Carrying the list with me means that, when I can spare a minute (and remember the list;)) I can send more Reiki.
Distant healing is not just a one-off event. Once you send distant healing it flows and continues to flow. Sending again, or several times more, just reinforces the flow.
It is something that everyone, Reiki or not, does by way of sending Get Well Soon cards, birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Easter cards, etc. without realising what they are doing.
We are ALL connected to the Energy all of the time and all distant healing does is concentrate it towards the person, or situation, to whom it is being sent - if THAT is what YOU intend and for the period you may choose to set. It's rather like setting a Video recorder to record your favourite programmes while you are away on holiday or setting an automatic timer on a cooker to start cooking when you are out so that the meal is ready when you return.
A single compassionate, caring and loving thought about a person or situation is healing and arrives at it's destination immediately. There is no delay.
Please relax, DON'T WORRY and let your healing thoughts flow to those people and things that need it. the more you do the greater the effect.
There are some wonderful analogies in this thread, all very apt! I liked your video and automatic cooker ones, as well. :) Not to forget the technology ... via email and, of course, HP itself ... if Reiki can travel through space, why not cyberspace? As indeed it does :)
Just at the moment I will suppress my ego.
