Question:
Could acupressure be used as a general tonic for the whole self, if done on the ears, as there's such a smaller area to cover - if you did finger pressure or massages all round, would it take in lots of areas and treat the whole - or doesn't it work like that?!
Hi Daydreamer
I've not really come across acupressure being used on the ears, although in theory I suppose there is no reason why not. In practice, the points need to be needled, or stimulated with a little stick-on magnetic stud.
In terms of a "whole body tonic" I don't think it really works like that - with most people some organs need a "tonic", whilst others need a "clear out". These actions are opposite in Chinese medicine. It is about finding the balance, not just boosting everything up!
A whole body re-balance will ideally come about through treating just one or two points, not a whole load of them. Finding which one or two points is part of the art of acupuncture, and I don't really think there are any shortcuts.
Best wishes

If I had to pick just one part of the body for self-treating, I would choose feet or arms/hands. As Aragorn points out (pun sort of intended!) you have to decide for each point if tonifying is needed or if a more calming effect is necessary.

DOH! Never thought of that!!
