Question:
Hi folks
I have a lady on my forums on a pregnancy site who is hoping for a VBAC after a hideous first experience which ended in a section. She is now 39 weeks and has been told that if she goes overdue she will have to have another section. She is therefore looking for anything that could help her to avoid the section.
She lives in the Braintree/Witham area, so if there's anyone in the vicinity who can help her, could you please get in touch. Feel free to PM me, or contact me offlist on lynnesmorgan@btinternet.com when I'll be able to give you further details.
Many thanks everyone
Hi
There is several things she can do aswell as having reflexology. She can eat plenty of fresh Pineapple and mangos, keep active.
also the last thing she may want is sex as the prostaglandin which is given to induce women can be found in semen in small amounts.
Tell her to ask her midwife or consultant about induction. I am a Midwife and where I work we induce women who are overdue, even when they have had a cesarean section before (of course depending on why they had the section the first time) But if they are prepared for her to go into labour and try for a normal delivery it could have not been for anything thay are too worried about.

ps hope she can find a Reflexologist try the AOR website.
Thanks Glynis
I've given her all the natural methods she can try (I'm an antenatal teacher - not as good as a midwife but at least we learn all the tricks, she's probably fed up with her husband and her breast pump already [8D]).
The reason for her first section was that on the day she was due to be induced she went into spontaneous labour (like they often do). When she got to the hospital for her induction (she didn't just phone to let them know and cancel the induction but went in anyway) she was already 4cm dilated but the staff insisted on using prostin anyway. This put her and her baby into distress and caused the usual cascade of intervention which resulted in the section and both of them being very ill afterwards, not to mention the psychological damage it did.
She's now been told that if she goes overdue - pretty likely since she was a late baby and her first was born at 41+6 - it will be an automatic section. Hence her near desperation to have a natural birth. She's now 39+3. I guess I can get her over to me, but I'm a bit concerned about the drive for her as I'm in Walthamstow.
Thanks for your help
Lynne
