Question:
Hiya all!
Does anyone have an 'allergy' to coffee??
I never drink it now, but we do keep a small jar in the tea cupboard for visitors.
Sat morning, I was making breakfast and I really fancied a cup! So I had one and it was really nice [8D]
About an hour later I had another one and I felt really 'buzzy ' and perky!!!
I think I had about 4 cups Sat and about 2 on Sun and 1 on Monday.
However Ive become really uncomfortable in my stomach :(
I dont know what you would call it..indigestion or trapped wind??? Ok , Im gonna be graphic! When I lay in the feotal position, but on my knees (pose of a child in yoga??) I trump!
Its like I have loads of gas in my belly and it is REALLY uncomfortable.
Its like the gas travel up to my chest and even in my neck and arms!
Is this a reaction to the coffee??
I used to get the same sort of thing if I had anythink bran like for my breakfast. Id be fine until about 5/6 oclock then it would start to get really uncomfortable.
Can anyone shed some light-or am I just a delicate little flower! :D
Tx
Thanks for that Trinity, you've made my morning.
Well this post and Dez's flattery link.
Caffeine does over-stimulate everything, including the bowel, and I suspect that's what's happened.
If you stop drinkning it you should be fine. Hope so anyway.

Hiya Sharon!
Thanks for the reply!
I havent had a cup since Monday evening and I still dont feel 100% [&:]
Just bloated and generally uncomfortable...
No more coffee for me now!!!
Its a shame because I liked the way it made me feel!!

How about if you fancy a cuppa have decafinated coffee.
Tastes the same to me.

I did think of this but Im not sure if it is the caffine that is the problem (or if indeed it is the coffee at all that is the problem!)
I drink diet coke and thats got caffine in it ....???
Not sure what to think!!!

Coffee is the devil's drink - I've been coffee free for a few years now (with the odd falling off the wagon)
It affects your body's ability to take in minerals and screws with your mind and your insulin resistence.
....is that an expresso I smell...............??
I never used to drink coffee...
But the one thing that really irritated me, was when I started a new job or moved from one branch to another and they asked me whether I drank coffee or tea?
When I say no, I don't drink either, they say, 'oh, it's ok, it is only your first day, let us know when you are ready'.... ugh!
It happened time and time again  Is it so unusual not to like the stuff? [&:]
Why is it so difficult to believe and accept that there are actually people out there who do not drink coffee or tea?
Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, just wanted to get that off my chest :);)
lol! thats ok Amber-you get it out!!!
I know coffee is terrible...I think that it was like quitting smoking-I had a wee relapse and it felt sooo gooood!!!
I usually only drink herbal teas (chamomile, nettle, fennel, tranquility) so I really got a buzz from drinking it ;)
I have learnt my lesson and Im gonna see if my gassy bloated belly feels any better for it (although I cant believe I still feel uncomfortable after 2 1/2 days of not drinking the stuff)
Anyway guys, thanks for the posts :D

Thats what coffee does to me
I know how you felt- at my volunteering placement the other day I was asked what I wanted to drink, so I said "hot water" and the woman just laughed and said "Is that all? What are you trying to do? Purify yourself or something?!!!"
How ignorant:D
Instant coffee makes me extremely ill and the real stuff can give me nasty headaches. Personally I think decaf could be even worse - don't they use chemicals to extract the caffeine?
Hope you feel better soon Trinity.
Just to say Tx,
A couple of weeks ago, my kids picked up some bug from school, it gave them the runs![&:] They got over it within 24hrs, I however didnt get the runs, but for a whole week my bowel grumbled:eek:, and the wind! well I dont want to go into it[:'(]
Just a thought, there are alot of nasties going round[:o]
Hope it passes soon!
why is it that if i drink instant coffee i get palpitations very quickly but not when i drink 'proper'coffee? i'm absolutely fine with tea' which is supposed to have more caffeine, and i drink GALLONS of it! (hope i don't attract the attention of the 'tea police' with that one!)
I drink loads of coffee and I think it has the same effect on me. I have recently started drinking decaf and limited my caffine kick to three a day,but it doesn't seem to solve the problem so i don't know why i perservere with the decaf.
Cherish your post made me LOL LOL LOL

A few years ago I used to live in Singapore and I used to love the iced coffee from McDonalds, but back then I also ate the food from there, drank like a fish and smoked 30 fags a day. Then I hit 30 and everything changed for me, I decided to find out which foods were good and which were not so good and I haven't had a coffee since.
DO I miss it? Well I do miss that morning jolt, but now my diet and lifestyle mean I always have energy, even first thing in the morning, which annoys the hell out of most people. So would I ever consider going back? Not a chance.
