Calendula carrier oil ?
Question:

Can anyone tell me the aroma and texture of calendular oil?
I have looked in over a dozen books and searched the internet but can not find this info.
Thanks very much if you can help as this is the only info I need to finish an assignment.

Hi Izzig
If you do a Google search for Calendula-Oil and choose UK search only, it brings up several websites with information about it. For example:
'Calendula Oil (from Calendula officinalis, which is a type of marigold) is usually extracted by maceration, which results in calendula oil being one of the more expensive carrier oils. This is one reason why this oil is often used blended with another, usually a fixed, oil. However, due to its benefits for damaged skin (incl. cuts, bruises, broken veins, eczema, varicose veins), calendula oil is sometimes applied alone/undiluted to small areas, such as visible broken veins.
Cosmetic uses of calendula are similar to the therapeutic applications, such as for chapped and cracked skin, and for cleansing, softening, and soothing'
Hope this helps and good luck with the assignment

I have tried this and it does give lots of info but never the aroma (the nearest I have found if just a description as "strong" but strong what?), which is why I am asking all you experienced guys and girls.

Hello there. I've just applied some calendula oil to my sons legs as they are quite sore after a long walk with the Scouts. My oil is an infused oil i.e. organic calendula flowers infused in organic sesame and sunflower oils - not an essential oil. I cant say that there is any more than a slightly nutty aroma from the base oils but not a lot more. I also used this on my face recently after I had removed some hair from my top lip and it worked remarkably well - the soreness disappeared in an instant. I recently changed my suppliers and now use Kobashi in Devon. Hope this gives you a bit more of an idea.

That's perhaps an idea - izzig, why dont you contact a supplier and ask them if they could give you the information that you need?
