Question:

hello everyone - I just wanted to say hi and that I have just started a beauty therapist course at college part time and had my first lesson last thursday evening which was great. we have just started on waxing which I have never had done my self but will be getting my legs waxed at college tomorrow night. AAAhhhhh
Also, I have a work pack to work through and answer questions in over the next 10 weeks or so. One of the first questions is what are the ingredients of hot wax, warm wax and sugaring. THis is fine on the warm wax because I have that in my kit that I have just bought off the college but any anserws on the others so that I can get started???
I am sure that I can go to a wholesalers and have a look at the pots if not but just thought that I would ask to save me the journey - especially with my 9 month old little girl - not sure she would find it as thrilling as I would !!!!
thanks

hiya
Hope your getting on ok with your assignments.[sm=angry-smiley-035.gif]I did NVQ level 2 ,I was going to do level 3 this year but I home teach and couldn`t do the hours they wanted us to do.Im doing holistic therapies I started in January and really loving it[sm=1syellow1.gif]
The good thing about doing the evening course is you have time to do assignments.I did full time last year and i found i was up all hours doing all the paper work. Its such a rewarding industry to work in and you meet lots of nice people.I was in nursing before ,what did you do?
You can ask anything you like i`ll help if can, also this is such a lovely site there is always someone to help you.[sm=hug.gif]
Take care, [sm=wave.gif]hugs to baby.

I am really enjoying the course so far - had a go at waxing week before last and had my legs done by another student on my course last week which was all very exciting - although she kept forgeting to strecch my skin before taking off strip so I half expected to lose half of my skin.
I have got a question actually for you if you can help me????
I have to list 5 causes of ingrowing hairs, I have four but don't know if you can help with last one??
So far I have :
dry skin caused by lack of exfoliating and moisurising
tight clothing after treatment
mouth of hair follicle is blocked due to incresed keritinisation in horny layer
the hair may have broken in follicle and be growing back into skin
Do these sound good as well??
thanks for any help

Glad you are enjoying waxing,I always got into a big sticky mess!!
Your answers are good, bad technique when removing wax strips, applying wax too thickly and not having the wax at the right temperature can all cause the hairs to be broken at the skin, instead of removal from the follicle. hope this helps.
Sorry I havent replied sooner but our computer went down. Good luck.

thanks for that. Not to worry about how long it took for you to come back as we have this work pack that I am working through with these questions on for homework but have got the 15 weeks to complete. Do you know where I can find the details of melting points for hot wax, warm wax and sugaring?????
I notice that on your details that you are from Cornwall - where abouts are you because I live in St.Austell and am doing my course in Cambourne College????
:)

thanks for all of your help. Have bought that book now and see that it has a lot of info in it that might help with my work pack. I can't find the melting point for sugaring though but will have a look round the net for that if I can - it just says that it is similar to warm wax.
Are you at college full time then?? I waxed my dads girlfriend at home last tuesday - I was so nervous as first waxing at home without tutor around to ask questions but I know that the more practice that I get the better I will become and quicker. It went really well actually. I have four people for leg waxes next week also so plenty of practice to come. I have just invested in a portable couch for home here also which should make it a lot easier for me.
Hope that you have had a great easter
