Question:
Hi, I bookmarked this this forum a wee while ago and it seems like a good place for advice! So I was hoping you might be able to help with my question.
I seem to have developed some kind of general anxiety problem. I find myself getting anxious over small things, or when there isn't even anything particular to be worried about. For about 6months last year I had post viral fatigue syndrome after a nasty virus, but I think that has basically gone now (thanks to a herbalist!). But I think it's left me with this anxiety.. all the time I had the post viral thing I was a bit worried about it - what it was, how it lasted so long. And I wonder if maybe my brain has just decided it always needs to be worrying about things.
It's not the normal me at all, and I really don't like it because even though I think I see what it is, and even where it's come from, I can't stop my brain from getting like this! And it just makes it that bit harder to deal with everything/anything. (For example, I'm escaping to Florence on Thursday for a 5 day holiday. This should be bliss, I should be so looking forward to it. But I find myself worrying about the flight - which I don't usually do, worrying about feeling tired, worrying about worrying!! It is rather stupid and annoying...)
So I was wondering what anyone could recommend? I don't want to talk to my doctor because I'm not interested in pills as a solution. I see EFT is mentioned a lot here and there is someone who does this near me, is that a good idea? Or are there other things which may be better? I've read some good advice on a couple of websites about ways to relax but I'd love some opinions/help on ways to get rid of this permanently... :)

EFT would most certainly help with the types of issues you mention. Use the EmoFree web site to search for practitioners near you in the UK.
Also from the emofree site (www.emofree.com) you can download the manual for free and learn to do EFT for personal use, just look under Free Stuff.

thanks a lot for that link, I didn't think there were places that supplied any kind of manual, even a basic one, for free. I'll have a read of that when I get back. Maybe I can fix myself rather than get someone else to do it :)
Gary Craig (the founder of EFT) wants everyone to have the ability to heal themselves. This is part of his spiritual journey to provide this as he's already made his money elsewhere. It can be very effective learnt and done by yourself, however if you find you get stuck on some issue or other you may still want to look up a practitioner as their training will help to get down to the root causes of things and they should be able to provide a more speedy relief than you would usually do for yourself.
Give it a go, see how you get on. Any questions, just ask on here and people will do whatever they can to help.

I have just downloaded the EFT manual and have started applying the system to myself.
It does work!
I tried it on anxiety and although I think I have to keep on with it - using the phrase "the remaining anxiety" (you`ll understand when you read the manual!:D) it did definately lessen the knotted feeling in my stomach I had become so used to.
I also tried it on anger, it didn`t have such an effect - but the key thing is to be specific - so I`m going to identify exactly what I`m angry about - there is a lot![sm=aaarg.gif] But I think it will be something specific in my past.
It feels a bit self concious when doing the sequence esp when humming!!:)
But I`m definatley going to keep going with this.

also you are right that you need to be specific so pick an incident and see how it feels get a 0-10 and get to work on it
eft is a wonderful and simple yet powerful tool

I literally only started to tap yesterday! - so not completely sure am doing it right - although it seems to be working.
I "reverse" to start with saying although I am anxious I comp & deeply love and care about myself whilst rubbing sore spot
then start tapping on all the points
then do the eye open/closed to the right/left hum happy b`day count to 5 happy b`day thing
then tap again
have tapped today for"anger at nan"
anger at abuser and having a cold sore throat and headache
only tapped for one sequence each
didn`t rate how I felt with each "thing" as couldn`t assess myself
am I doing it right?

where you say i care about myself , that should be deeplt and completely accept myself
also you gat a score 0-10 for each issue and clear 1 at a time
it is not good doing 1 round on each aspect as that wil only slightly reduce the intensity
so find an issue get a 0-10 and do as many rounds as needed to reduce that to a (0)
then go to the next issue
sometiomes other issues come up whilst tapping and if they are related fine, ohterwise keep on track and then go for other things that come up

Also you might find it useful to just get yourself a piece of paper and write down your issue and your score then as you complete each round, note down the new score and any other aspect/issues that have come to mind. That way you can keep track of things and work on them once you've cleared the issue you're currently working on.

Did EFT on a cold that was developing and it has disappeared!! Amazing!
Also realised that I`d forgotten the eye rolling in the Gamult point bit (did I get that right!!!!???)
I am going to try to concentrate on the feelings I have at the present moment and see what that un covers. write it down as you say Energylz, and try to give it a score - which is hard cos I always say it`s a 10 - would that be right in my circumstances?
One thing is, that I have a bad feeling due to an BIG row with my husband. I`ve tried to work out what it is and it`s not entirely anger, or any of the "normal" feelings you would expect - so if I can`t identify it how can I tap on it?
Any suggestions???

That is just such a wonderful idea, and viewpoint to have. So many treatments these days are made so that someone somewhere can make as much money as they can, that to find someone happy to give out their information for free is a rarity!
I'm back from my holiday which proved most relaxing, but the anxiety is still popping up now and then now I am back home with all the old things to preoccupy my mind. But I've downloaded the manual and will be giving it a read soon. It's great of people here to offer their advice, I might well be dropping by to ask questions once I've started reading!
