Question:
I'd love to be attuned to reiki and I was considering having a distance attunement as I know a website where reiki masters are offering them for free. The only problem is I cant quite figure how it actually works and it sounds a bit suspect. I suppose I wouldn't have anything to lose but if it didn't work would I know? [&:]
I would appreciate your opinions on this.

Hello Mimosa and welcome to HP and this forum. It's a bit late for a longer reply, but you might like to look back at some earlier threads on distance attunements. Don't ignore the one on Master attunements because you have not yet done Reiki - there were some good posts made.

Distance is only a physical reality and is not relevant in energy work.
The mechanics go something like this, you decide you would like to be connected to an energy working modality, so you go and find someone who is already connected to these energy beings and request a connection so you can work with them.
The person who already has this connection then connects to the energy beings behind this or that modality and states their intention for you to receive the same connection.
Then your higher self that is your own energy consciousness makes a direct connection to these energy beings and this is then filtered down into you own awareness and you have been attuned or connected.
These energy beings together with your higher self then try and steer you back onto your life journey and try and help you complete your life goals whatever they happen to be :-)
I have been a Reiki Master for many years. I have never actually heard of a true distance reiki attunement. I suppose it could be done but how effective it would be done I am not sure. If possible i think it would be better to get one done in person. Maybe ask around, look in the phone book or find out on websites etc to see if there are any reiki masters near you.

I am always concerned about free attunements. It's not that I don't believe some things in life can't be free. It is that people seem to get excited about a FREE Reiki attunement.
When I buy want something that I know is going to change my llife forever I have a good look around and I then choose on quality and it's suitability for me. I do this regardless of price.
If the attunement is the right one and the Master for me, then the money will come when it is my time to learn. If I am called to a Master but the money is not there, then I must wait.
Too many people have taken on free, or even cheap, attunements and then never touched Reiki again. If we take on Reiki with respect and honour then we will use it.
If the Master we choose happens to give free attunements, then wonderful, but we musn't be led by the fact that it's free.

What about healing someone over a distance! have you had any success with that? the principles are the same :-)

I personally believe that long distant attunement are fine. I was attuned to Reiki 2 long distance.
Though saying that, i know that i would not of wanted to be attuned to Reiki 1 long ditance, as i think that it is a lot better to have face to face guidance when being introduced into Reiki.

Sorry..another thing...i've never been a big believer in, 'when the times right, the money will be there'.
For me with my situation has been the same and will be for as far ahead as i can see. If ihad of had the choice, i would of prefered not to have my R2 attunement done long distance. I had been wanting for a long time to do R2, and was and am so grateful to the wonderful person that so kindly helped me.
I think the main problem with long distance attunements is the after care. I found it difficult myself, to bring myself to constantly e-mail asking questions...you feel a nusiance.

Yes I have had good things happen with distance healing. I have a friend in Singapore who contacts me and we arrange a time and she makes sure she's lying or sitting down at that time and she said she can feel the reiki coming through.
I know it seems strange that distance healing works but not necessarily attunements but that's the way it seems to be!:)

It is quite possible to put a block on any type of energy work, please consider that everything is one and connected, you can if you wish share any form of energy work with anyone at any time regardless of time or distance.
It is not necessary to know the recipient nor to have seen them, with a full name and address you can make contact in the energies the same as if they are with you and perform whatever you set your intention to do, it's just the same.
I would appreciate your opinions on this.
