Question:
I am trying to decide whether to do an Ear Candling Course and went for a treatment on Wednesday to see what it was like and help me make up my mind about the course. I didnt have a problem with my ears prior to this.
The actual treatment I found a little bit uncomfortable particularly my left ear which the therapist said my ear canal opening was smaller and a different shape in that ear. When she twisted the candle to seal it was quite painful. I enjoyed the face massage afterwards.
However, all day yesterday I had mild earache in both ears and also the ear reflex points on both feet where extremely painful, particularly right ear reflex. Quite a bit of wax came out of my right ear last evening. I massaged both reflex points well during the evening and feel a lot better this morning.
I just wondered if anybody could shed any light on this. Is this usual, maybe a kind of healing crisis. I am now having second thoughts about doing the course myself.
Thanks in advance for any comments
Hi Jackie,
You can sometimes get a bit of ear ache afterwards, (I do mention it to my clients) - I've had one client who said they had it after the 1st treatment only- the rest of the treatements were OK and certainly with all treatments there are likely to be a number of noticeable changes in the first 24 hours e.g. running sensation at the back of the throat, coughing, maybe a headache (gosh - I'm really selling this:D), but all of these are signs that something is going on which is the aim of the treatment.
I know you said that the therapist examined your ears, but did she use an otoscope to check the inside of the ear? You might have had some underlying irritation.
I'm sure some else will have more to add.
Glad your ears are better now though.
Hi
It sounds to me as though the therapist did something wrong.
Putting the candle in the ear should never hurt and it should not feel uncomfortable during the treatment.
