Question:
Hi
I'm approx 16 weeks into a Reflexology course and beginning to experience many pairs of feet.
On about 4 occasions now, I have become very hot and flushed (neck, face and scalp) particularly when I find a problem area(s). All on different feet!
This has happened to me before when doing Aroma massage - probably 3 or 4 times in 6 years but I've never really thought anything of it.
Can anyone offer an explanation? (Don't tell me it's the menopause:))

Well it could be a reiki type flow of energy, perhaps you are a natural. Does your client feel the heat or any tingling. On a more mundane level It could also be an allergic reaction to something, ie wipes, powder, cream.
I also experience hot flushes when doing treatments, but quite often it is the menopause:)
In fact I have to have a fan on me in the warm weather.[:o]

Hi Jan
Well, I've given your reply some thought.
Heaven forbid it's the dreaded menopause! I will keep a check on this though.
The only time it's happened is when I've been using a pedicure lotion that I've used for .... er, ages. So I doubt it's an allergic reaction.
I don't do Reiki - although it's something I would like to do in the future, when I can understand it!?
It really has come as a surprise to me to be honest. I always get 'into' my treatments but never so much as I am with Reflex (it blows my mind).
Thank you for your reply.

Hi
Thank you for you reassurance on this one. I must say, I really do feel that it is something more! I can't put it into words - which frustrates me!
Sometimes I've doubted myself about the route I have chosen (dramatic career change 6 years ago) but Reflexology is the one treatment that is re-affirming my decision.
Once again, thanks for your support.

it could be your energies mixing with the clients, or you could be taking their energies onto yourself.....
if you think of the zones and how the theory is that the energy flows through these zones...and out the feet...and you are infront of the feet.....it is flowing straight into you
i was once told by a lady who reads aura's to sit with my solar plexus away from the client.....perhaps just to one side slightly....
sometimes i come over all feint when i am giving a massage treatment of any kind....hot, dizzy and sick.....i do beleive that it is the energy that effects me this way. I can control the way i feel when it happens just by taking e few deep breaths and grounding myself again

I think you've got it. I don't think I'm grounding myself!! Until I'm confident in what I'm doing, I think I'll have to sit slightly to one side and see what happens.
Thank you!

Hello Wendiwoo
I get this a lot when doing Reflexology and it's different with different people. I get very hot with one particular client to the point of it being uncomfortable. I usually feel hot when I get to inbalances on the feet. I don't really know why I guess it's just exchange of energies and it gives me a clue as to where the imbalance are aswell so it quite usefull.
Interestingly I usually feel flushed before a Reiki client shows up. If I don't get hot then I know they're not going to show!!!

Oh good, it's not just me that gets hot and bothered :D With me I'm sure it's an energy Reiki type thing going on. I get clients reporting tingling and waves of energy rushing up their body too. Maybe I reach the parts other therapists don't reach! Hmmm, not something to put in my practice leaflets I feel.
