Fidgety Client
Question:

Hello All
Did a Reflexology treatment last night on a long standing client. He has on occasions been quite fidgety but last night seemed unable to stay still for more than a minute at a time. He kept moving his arms, legs and shifting position so much that the towel on the foot I wasnt working on at the time kept falling off and I had to retrieve it.
I kept returning to the linking points for relaxation ie front and back of big toe and end of spine and this would quiet him briefly but seemed as soon as I let go of the points he was back to being jumpy. It got so bad I did quite an abbreviated treatment as I couldnt get him to relax.
Anybody else had this experience with a client and any tips of how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated.
best wishes

Hello Jackie!!
Did you mention anything to him about it? When I get clients like this, I go through some relaxation exercises with them - often as simple as imagining their feet are really heavy and sinking into the pillow (for fidgety feet - for whole body talk them through the whole body from head to toe). If they imagine this they can't help but relax.
Also probably obvious, but checking that they are comfortable - right temperature, position - may help restlessness. Plus just being acknowledged that they are restless!
