Question:
Does anyone know much about these regulations the government is bringing in soon.
One is about wearing gloves during all treatments to prevent the spread of MRSA and the other is stopping us performing Skin Peels and offering Botox.
Not heard too much about it has anyone got the lowdown?
Not sure about this but I think it is more to do with the cosmetic surgery industry than beauty ie places that offer botox etc but not sure sorry.
Yeah your right Angelic,
We are not qualified to give botox injections as Beauty therapists, Only G.Ps and surgeons are qualified to give botox. As for wearing gloves with some treatments like bikini waxing were blood spotting is likely then this has been going for a while. The new NVQ standards have already started at our college. We now have to be assessed on at least one male client for facial and manicure and we dont have assignments, case studies or multiple choice tests anymore, we just have practical assessments and written exams, so it hasnt change too much. But I think that different colleges do vary in what they cover in their NVQs as the NVQ level 3 at our college no longer covers nail extensions or electrolysis. but other colleges still do this in their level 3 beauty therapy course.
I hadn't heard anything about new regulations - have you been able to find out anymore? And just as an aside, my friend's dentist offers botox.....ouch!! Just a little squeamish about needles myself!!
